Clunking when turning in first gear after driving for a bit

I have recently purchased a 1999 jeep wrangler. Started out with no issues and I would assume that’s because it had only been driven a few times in about 4 years. Well soon after I started actually driving it i stared hearing a clunking noise when turning left or right in first gear at slow speeds. The noise only happens after driving for about 20 minutes or so. I have replaced all four shocks, passenger side u-joint in the axle, you joint on the driveshaft, rear sway bar links and bushings, and topped off rear differential fluid. I have also been underneath and tighten anything I could find that was loose.

The noise is still there and I’m not sure of the next option. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are a few issues here:

First of all, unless it is a very common, widely known problem within the breed, noises, vibrations and “clunks,” are close to impossible to troubleshoot over the internet. The troubleshooter needs the vehicle in their hands in order to figure it out.

Secondly, throwing parts at a problem, unless you are EXTREMELY lucky, is almost always the most expen$ive approach to troubleshooting. If the problem is a common problem, ou might find the answer that leads you to replace the correct part.

I would love to be more helpful, but I am new to the Jeep world, thus not familiar with the common problems.

Since it shows itself when turning, I think I would be focusing on the front u-joints, looking for rub marks on the front tires and surrounding components and the differentials.

Hopefully someone with much more jeep experience who has dealt with this before will come along with the magic bullet.

Hang in there and don’t give up. A good troubleshooter approaches problems as a vendetta.

Do you have an after market front track bar?

The frame side track bar bolt can lose torque but still be tight which will cause it to shift and clunk when the wheels are turned.

Maybe something isn't secured properly in the engine bay and is shifting when you turn. Is the battery tied down? Did you check the engine and trans mounts?
