Click Sound when using A/C (Video)

That's normal. The compressor is engaged or disengaged through the electric clutch that locks it to the pulley or lets it freewheel as needed to maintain the required temperature.

That said, it does appear to be cycling pretty rapidly. Is it cooling alright? If it seems weak, you might want to have the AC system checked for proper charge. Many places will do this check for free.

Well, like I said, many repair shops and even some auto parts places will check your refrigerant charge for free. If it's just a charge issue (and no leaks), a charge-up is usually pretty cheap. Having the system checked for leaks is also a good idea.

I'd call around to some local shops to see if they will do an A/C system inspection for free and what they charge for a refrigerant top-up. They will usually charge a set labor fee and some amount per ounce of refrigerant.

The original video doesn't seem to work anymore but mine will do the click cycle every 10 seconds or so when idling on low fan speed. Is that too frequent? It might be time for a recharge
