Chassis grease

What grease are you using? I've been using Mobil 1 red synthetic on my Superduty but I don't know if it would be compatible with whatever has been used on my Jeep in the past. There must be a generic type of grease that the lube places use to avoid compatibility issues?

Calcium Sulfonate grease is water resistant, aka "marine" grease. Switched to it for the Jeeps. Used to use syn M1 or Valvoline.

Tom Woods driveshafts recommends calcium sulfonate grease.

I've had no problems with any of them.

The key is to just grease often...

Even though it didn't show up when I searched the site I just came across this when I used Google https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/grease-recommendation.2161/

It looks like I should probably stick with a NLGI GC-LB in a #2. Seems Red n Tacky is pretty popular. Not what Spicer recommends in their U-Joints tho which is Chevron EP2.

My goal is to have a single grease that I can use on both my 2002 Ford and my 2000 Jeep. (No deep water crossings planned)

They are all petroleum based even synthetics. The key is to use the same grease to avoid compatibility issues and grease often. Cheap insurance.
I grease every oil change and after I’ve wheeled in deep water.

Superlube is made with petroleum base precursors. They break these down and reassemble the molecules into new groupings whichh are more stable. This is where the term synthetic originates from as they synthesize a new compound. This is also how synthetic motor oils are made. Their spec sheet states it contains No Silicone. It contains Syncolon which is their proprietary additive and is a powder suspended in a synthetic base oil. I’m sure it’s a good product. It is also food safe so you can eat it.

I use Red and tacky for everything. Cars, boats, lawnmowers, tractors, firearms, anything that needs grease. Been using it for as long as I can recall.

Most polyurethane bushing comes with a packet of what appears to be silicone based lubricant. I have a dedicated grease gun with 92150 super lube in it. Much less expensive than Hotchis grease.​
