Can the ECM create this problem?

I'm having an issue with my interior lights (dome lights on the sound bars and the courtesy lights in the foot-well) remaining on until the battery dies. I found my TJ with a dead battery on Sunday, jumped it and can't get the interior light to go out. I've had to resort to pulling the #26 fuse from the engine bay fuse box - the Accessories fuse. eVen if I try pulling the #4 door override fuse in the glove box the lights stay on.

I've tested and disconnected the door plunger switches, and disconnected the multifunction switch. Neither of these actions will cause the lights to go out. I even test leaving the door open for twenty minutes to see if they would go out and that failed. Several months ago I left a door open while working on the TJ in the garage and the next morning I was pleased to see the lights out and the battery safe, it started right up.

The reason I am suspecting the ECM is that I suspect (but don't know for 100% certain) that it controls the 20-30 second delay in shutting the lights off when exiting the vehicle and I suspect its the computer that times out the lights after twenty minutes if the door is left open.

Last weekend, I inadvertently arced a wrench from the positive battery terminal to the hood. Could that have created this problem with the ECM?

Thanks in advance.

Bob

Do you have a factory service manual?

If you do, chapter 8w and trace the wires on the wiring diagram from the lamps back. A test light will help in the process. Or a multimeter on DC volts. Tim

I refer back your original thread about this problem. Starting another is only going to confuse the situation.
