Busted Ram

And you figure 600-800 lbs of tongue weight. My sister had a shorter extension on here F350 with her horse trailer with a Torque lift hitch pulling her horse trailer and the rear of the frame twisted where the hitch is mounted. And that's only 2 horses which is lighter than our Jeeps.

That Host Mammoth weighs in over 4000 pounds dry. And what's in that cargo trailer?

What amazes me is he felt it should be repaired buy Ram.

Funny - the dude? is sitting in the cab as if nothing happenned.

Not exactly on point but I own a Jeep Comanche and the owners manual specifically says no slide in campers. I think there are a LOT of guys whose MJ didn't come with a manual.

Of course the XJ and MJ have a " UniFrame " unitized body. It is not a body on frame truck.
Not that it matters , the real problem with the bent trucks on this thread is guy's with no sense , are under 5'6" in height ,
or born with a small dick.

Half right on the MJ as it has a frame from the back of the cab to the rear. It's hard to believe what has been done with some of them (pic below).

I met a guy with a decked out Gladiator at a Jeep show who said his frame cracked and bent. Like some of the pics here but not nearly as bad. He claimed it is inherent in the design and common to RAMs (similar frames). After straightening he fixed it with fish plates.

With that truck, you'd be way over the legal height limitation with a Cabover Camper.

People have done it. You have to choose the camper wisely.

I'm curious to see what kind of truck is acceptable to use with those kinds of cabovers.

A Ram 5500 C&C or a Ford F550 C&C or Chevy 5500 all have a GVW of 19,500 lbs, They are a Class 5 truck.

And again it has a tag axle to take the weight. My dad went and looked at one when I was around 7 or 8 years old. At that age I thought it was pretty neat.

Bingo! I always thought that to be an odd way to build a pick-up. On a side note, I've always loved the custom-built crew cab versions...

There have been some really nice crew cab conversions. Another one I like is a cab and a half (sort of) like this one. The cab has been stretched and doors from a 2 dr. XJ have been used. I think the builder used a short box and may have altered the frame and/or wheel wells.

That extra door length can make all the difference when getting in and out of the vehicle. And it still looks aesthetically pleasing...downright factory-built, in fact. Love it!!!

After looking online at the folded tin style of frame on a MJ , and seeing the front axle on this motor home
I would tend to lean towards this is a MJ cab grafted onto a different truck frame.

I couldn't find a good good photo of how the the MJ " frame" ties into the rest of the uniframe , I would guess this is where you would fold your Comanche
in half with a overhead camper.

The Comanche "tin frames" are pretty tough. Despite AMC/Chrysler's warnings I haven't seen any buckle with a camper on it. I could be wrong.

As for the "White Whale" I posted earlier, no surprise that the frame has been modified (lengthened, stiffened, etc.) but it started out as an MJ. The front axle is a Dana 30 no doubt with a few modifications. The rear is a Dana 60.

Thanks ! I can't figure out why they would go through the effort to add a wheel spacer to shove the front budd style wheel outboard when it isn't interchangeable with the rear axle. I bet that offset is hard on the unit bearing , especially with the added weight of the camper.

My guess is that it's just for "the look". If you look at @Squatch 's post above (#27) most of the MJ duallies have the same thing. They look good with the deep dish rear wheels. I'm sure the "White Whales" have a dedicated cupboard for bearings. :ROFLMAO:

DAMN.... Ok so you can pull it but can you STOP it? Sort of the same thing with hauling it....

I passed a dumbass on the highway the other day who was in a DRW Ford pulling a skid steer, which was parked as far onto the trailer tongue as it physically could be, riding like this V. I don't want him pulling anything.
