A few weeks ago I purchased my 2005 Jeep wrangler unlimited with 104,000 miles. Decided to change oil that was long overdue from previous owner and now I’m hearing this bubbling sound but only in the cab. Is it just an idling sound or something I need to work on? I’m not hearing it anywhere but inside the cab.

This sounds like a tricky one…pun intended. Are you thinking the noise is related to your oil change? Any other fluid changes? Coolant levels look good?

My first thought is there are some vacuum controls on the hvac and something coincidentally is going on under the dash not related to your oil change that is making a sound. Pure guess.

Air bubbles in heater core as thermostat opened maybe.

The only thing that I’ve changed is the oil, it does have a bad oxygen sensor, but I’m going to get that replaced. The coolant level has been the same since I purchased it and I will post a picture of that below.

That’s the overflow, have you opened the radiator when it’s cool?

I wouldn’t see how your details would correlate to the oil change.

Does your cabin smell like syrup? Leaky heater core could let air in and bubble, total guess.

I did open the radiator when it was cool when I purchased and it looked fine to me but then again I don’t actually have any true knowledge on how it’s supposed to look. I just figured if it looked bad it was likely bad.

There is not any sore of scent in the cab or truly around the vehicle in general.

Do you hear it all the time? Or just under certain circumstances?

A bad rad cap will let it boil over into the overflow at times, usually when you shut the engine off hot.

My friends JK has a BAD heater core leak currently. It doesn't smell like anything because it wasn't mixed correctly when she had a radiator done at Conrad's. Maybe 10-20% concentrate and rest is water. I gave it the old taste test and rest assured, it was coolant. So don't rule that out completely.

I hear it all the time. It’s subtle. I realized today that when I just put the car ignition right before turning the engine over where all the lights turn on, it starts making the noise. So I suppose it’s not a engine thing?
