Can someone explain what the differences are in these 2 Bestop Safari Tops?

Header Extended Safari Top

Strapless Extended Safari Top

I am going to run one of these with a wrap around Windjammer and a Duster rear deck cover for the winter. My goal is to have less volume to heat and keep the damage to a minimal if I run a tree.

This one requires a no drill header : no-drill header windshield channel #51238

This one requires a channel that you attach to the windshield frame : Requires windshield channel #51209-01 (some minor drilling may be required)

I’ve done that setup a few winters. It’s not very comfortable. The jammer keeps you from moving the seat back, or reclining enough to get comfortable.

Thanks! That explains it.

I have a harness bar behind the seats so I can't move them back much anyway. Besides, I'm short😜. Do you think the Jammer will work with it?

Glad it helps. I've had both and prefer the no drill header. I've had some of the screws break off for the drilled header and it's a PITA...

I have a harness bar and NO a wrap around windjammer will not fit. Not even close.

I may get the tonneau and the safari top and just use the trail cover for winter storage.

I haven't tried a regular windjammer with my harness bar but even if it did fit it's gunna be cold. I drove my TJ with a soft top in WA winters and never had issues. No it wasn't hot inside when doing 65-70 MPH down the freeway but it wasn't so cold I needed gloves and a heavy jacket. And I delt with 10* weather during a lot of that time.

Good to know. Do you have the tonneau? I don't expect to be toasty, but I do expect to be warm enough when crawling.

I ran the duster before I added the half box to the back. I want to get one modified to work with the box since it kept the dust off my gear.

I also used to run a windjammer during the summer before I had my harness bar since it helped to keep some of the dust from blowing into the front cab area. So again while not going to keep your toasty you could run a windjammer and a warm jacket and light gloves if you were wanting it for winter wheeling.
I thought you were looking for something to run all the time like it's a DD and you're driving to work everyday.

Good to know. I'm looking for something to keep the back dry in the winter and the cab warm. I only drive mine from the campground to the trail.

OK then YES a regular windjammer should help... I've got one in the box that I haven't tried yet. If I get a chance in the next couple of days I'll try it out.
