Looking to replace my entire AC system and Heater Core on my 1997 4.0 TJ. I live in the deep south, so I don't necessarily need a super hot heater. In fact, I've had it bypassed for about 10 years. But AC is VERY important. Looking for the best parts I can get (mopar if available) and for the heater core, I am okay w/ aluminum, provided it doesn't leak. Want to just pull the dash apart one time. Looking at rockauto:

I went down this rabbit hole recently regarding a replacement heater core since the OEM part is discontinued. Superior Cooling and Performance Radiator are two that get mentioned a lot, but I found a huge price difference between the two ($37 vs $170, respectively). No personal experience with either, not sure what to make of it, curious to see what others say.

I'm also curious. I need to replace my heater core on my 2006 LJ. It might be the best, but I just can't stomach over $400 for a heater core from brassworks.

It's not hard to replace the heater core so just buy the best you can. I'd go with copper if at all possible. I bought what I thought was a copper heater core based on the pics and when I got it, it was aluminum. I was a little disappointed but went ahead and installed it. It's working fine.

I just last week did exactly what the OP is asking. Can't get OEM for the heater core so I went with Performance radiator. Their site shows out of stock. But if you call the 800 number they have plenty in stock. Their site shows 70+ dollars but when I picked mine up (dist. warehouse where I live)n it was only 35.00. Heat is good.
For the AC evaporator I did get a new OEM from ebay. It wasn't cheap but I have done this swap in another TJ and though not difficult it was a pain. I have not replaced the accumulator/drier yet but plan to before it gets warm here.

I've had really good results with the heater core from Performance Radiator. Sorry, no experience with AC parts - I deleted that system entirely.

I found this, but no experience with them. Getting ready to change mine as well.

I guess the question is... is copper worth 3X the cost?
