Thoughts? Experiences?
Post shims won't work on my 2015. I cut a very thin piece of Medal, (out of a picture frame hanger but anything hard enough will work), with Tin snips so it would fit between the two plates that tighten the terminal around the post. Once I put them in, I had enough room to tighten them without putting anything between the terminal and the post. This took only a second and I did not have to replace anything. I am monitoring them daily, for now, to ensure they stay tight. The lack of tight connection caused an electrical short in my system that made the instrument panel and radio go off and on. Including turning on my windshield wipers without turning the knob. It's a serious flaw that should be fixed by Jeep. WHY USE THESE TYPES OF TERMINALS JEEP? This was a quick easy fix for me. I hope it continues to stay tight. The key to not allowing this to happen is not to tighten more than needed. If you can't move the terminal, it's tight enough. Beware of anyone else putting in a battery for you. They are not aware and trying to be diligent, then tighten too tight. Not their fault, they are just trying to do a good job without knowing the flaw. I hope Jeep will answer this post and ensure they don't use terminals like this in the future.
