This evening I was driving my 2004 TJ, 4.3L. Has 6” lift I been considering removing. I heard a bang over my right shoulder and I thought the rear tire hit a pothole. Drive a 1/2 mile further and it happened again when accelerating in first and second gears. Was lucky to get home as the banging and jarring continued periodically particularly in first and second gear. Trasmission?

Could be- I’d lift the rear and check for transmission noises as you turn the wheels, check you joints and then drain the rear diff gear oil or remove the cover and check the gears.
