Are Jeep/Mopar instructions notoriously bad??

UPDATE: In case anyone else "electrically illiterate" (a term I learned here) finds this helpful...it WAS #3. Once I got a look at it from the side, I could see the red lock shown clearly in the How-To thread. But the blue/ white wire was on the OTHER SIDE of that connector, visible only with some serious acrobatics and only because my neighbor knew to look on the other side. I just assumed that what's coming out of a connector is what's going in the other side.

Next step of hardtop wiring kit says "find the grey 10-way connector with the blue/ white wire". Based on their diagram, this connector is adjacent to the 100 way connector. Also based on their picture, I would think I'm looking for #3 (in my pic). BUT - that's only a 5 way, AND that wire is solid blue (I have a clear pic of the underside), not blue and white. #2 does not have any blue wire. And #1 has a blue and white wire, BUT, that's the 12-way connector that is part of the 100-way. Is "10 Way connector" just a generic term? I've scoured the underside and that's the only blue/ white wire I see.
Instructions aren't terribly helpful if they leave stuff out 😭

I think that you may be best served by downloading the FSM for your year TJ. Look at the electrical wiring diagrams and see which components/circuits you are connecting to. That should help you find the correct plug. There is also a section in the FSM that shows connector locations within the jeep.
