Anyone carry a military E-tool in their wheeler?

I carry this thing in the rig, but I also have that full-folding model which lives in the wife’s SUV.

I’m never without a shovel. In the truck I carry a full sized shovel since I have the room.

reminds me of the Spetznaz E-Tool that came on my Ural

makes me think i knead to consider making a custom sized shovel to mount in this manner on the inside of the tailgate

I carry one in my emergency "get home bag". For a vehicle recovery or stopping a fire you need a real shovel and every vehicle has room for one. E tools aren't good for much more than digging a small hole to crap in.

The whole reason I started carrying an E tool in the beginning was to get myself un stuck. The first one I had, that was all it was used for. I had even used it a couple of times to get my K5 Blazer un stuck in snow.

Now days I stop fires with it just about every camping trip and use it to dig out fire rings :D

And not every vehicle has room for a real shovel. I for sure don't when loaded for a few nights camping.

Got to thinking my last trip that I cant be the only one :D

Have sort of always had one with me starting in my class 11 VW wheelin days.

Got my first one from an Apache pilot neighbor when I was in my teens in the 80s. Guessing it was Viet Nam era. The blade had no serrations and a canvas cover.

Carried that for a long time and I'm not sure what happened to it. Got a newer version in the early 2000s to replace it. And picked up a molle pouch for it a couple years ago.

Nothing beats a real shovel, but these are pretty useful.

I carried one similar for awhile but switched to a backcountry collapsable shovel with a saw in it. Works better for me in snow, that little shovel wrecked my back trying to dig out a couple times. Both are super useful tools think it just depends on area

Got a pic or a link?

This isn’t the exact one I have but pretty close. Super light, made to be small enough to hike with and dig your buddy out fast in an avalanche

My neighbor charged up with his snowmobile buddies into a death zone in the San Juans to go high marking. He wound up buried 60' deep - 30' during the first slide, then another 30' deep to finish it. He was buried in March and not melted out until June. That's a lot of shovel work!

I used to carry one of those little plastic shovels in my cars when I lived in Minnesota. They got me out of some spots.

Burried is not how I want to go out. Lost a group of friends a few years back, all accomplished riders. Bigger area broke than anyone expected. 6 buried, 5 dead… bad day

You guys in snow country ever try these folding scoop shovels from Costco? I bought a 2 pack for beach sand but haven't needed to use one yet. They fold down pretty small but not like a military shovel.
