Anybody up for a random meme dump?

It's not about you or your vocal abilities,..

It never is about the performer or their abilities. Its all about the audience - they want to FEEL SOMETHING! Its up to the performer to provide that.

I do however, disagree with this video about singing it quick. As a lifelong musician, I got tired of music being played just too damn fast. Now maybe the Anthem doesn't need to go 1:40, and certainly not 2:30; but 0:58 is just too fast to my ear. Its NOT a circus number. His singing voice is wonderful, but that was just too fast.

Agree to Disagree...
If the words and original melody of the song do NOT make you feel something at your core and you need some vocal starlet putting their spin on it to get you into your feels about being patriotic, then YOU have a problem and are lacking in patriotic pride.

I can agree with not trying to sing it in under a minute, and yes, Rowe's version did feel a bit rushed to me too... It should be about 1:20ish according to historical records.

True enough - I'm just saying that the performer MUST connect with the audience as its all about them, not the guy/gal onstage. And its not easy for a performer to do so - this is something I continue to work on myself. For many years, I didn't understand it and I still have problems doing it, but I know it when I see it.

100%. The anthem is about showing love and respect for our country. I appreciate a wide variety of styles as long as that's what's communicated.

People are free to prefer one specific style if that's what they like. And other people are free to have different tastes.

Meh!!!
Sorry not sorry, this is one of those songs you just don't "make your own". It's not about you or your vocal abilities, or how much of a spin you can make on the original to "spice it up".

I'm in total agreement with Mike on this one.

What if it’s played via guitar?

With as little as I actually watch Baseball I actually remember that performance.

1:40ish isn't too bad, and I sang along with it with no problem. It wasn't over the top in the same way a lot of singers try to make it "their own".

Baseball and yes I picked that one because it was played fairly normally.

Some get crazy.
