There needs to be rules, they are getting better and better. Smarter and smarter, maybe?
But still can't make out what's in the sides of tires.

Buddy of mine had one of these when I was younger. I was always disappointed with the VW engine.

Nowadays it's easy to skip the VW and put a Subaru WRX engine in there for some real excitement.

Just having a manual transmission makes it infinitely more fun to drive, even if it’s still 40 horsepower.
I had a rail buggy with a 2010cc VW that would absolutely scoot!
Depending on the asphalt it would either roast the tires or pop a wheelie.
Dual Weber carbs, 5 rib bus transaxle, super light flywheel, disc brakes with steering handles.
It was a blast but it was a time vampire.
You couldn't turn the key without it needing something done before you could drive it.
Edit: Found a pic of it. You can see one of the dual carbs sticking up.

Aside from others, one of my grandfather's best side hussles was VW repair in the 60s-80s.
Careful, @Zorba gonna get a chub. Not good in a skirt. I started to, then a picture of him with a tent popped in my head.
