Alloys for my 2005 TJ

Style = opinion, and like a butt hole, everyone has one, but mine is special and doesn't stink. :sneaky:

I suggest you buy a wheel that you like with the proper spacing, form a reputable company. No Chinese off-brand garbage. With aluminum, look at weight and manufacturing process, and any DOT certs, to get an idea of quality.

Ha! That does sound special!

Is there any chance you could go further in to the weight etc? I don't know anything about it.

I was originally going to go with black steel wheels. The kind of pepperpot style. I then looked at a few and you can lose the wheels if everything is black

Yeah, I don’t like Black wheels too much because the tires and wheels just disappear (black is colorless!) Steel wheels can bend and then you can lose a bead, they scratch and rust, they’re heavier. An aluminum or alloy wheel in 15x8 usually weighs around 20-22lbs.

Do you have any good suggestions for other options to look at?
Edit-The wheel that you 1st showed Is that the style of wheel you want/prefer?I got some others in mind but i needa know
Edit# 2 Made the pic smaller had to scroll for 10 minutes to get through the pics lol
For some my style of wheel is lame,I'm "modest"
But this is my style,

if you're not going to be doing any rock climbing, just dirt roads then no need for real beadlocks. Not even sure about the legality of bead locks in the UK?

Go with what you like.. you'll find plenty who agree with you... and plenty who don't... just do your thang and enjoy it :-).

04 TJ on 35's on 15" steel rims... and I wheel the crap out of them.

Beadlocks are on my list... but very expensive so I'm waiting to see where I end up next in my build. I also drive this across country to wheel... no trailer queen here! lol...

It's been a while since I've bought wheels or thought about this, and I'm not an engineer or tool and die man by any means, so keep that in mind, but generally better quality aluminum wheel are lighter. IIRC, there are 3 basic methods of production; cast, forged and billet. Cast tends to be the heaviest and cheapest, billet the lightest and most expensive.

Cast aluminum wheels are the most common and affordable, and are produced via gravity casting, low-pressure or high-pressure casting. Gravity casting tends to be somewhat porous and weaker, and uses more material to compensate for strength. Pressure casting reduces porosity and provides a stronger wheel with less material, as compared to gravity. I suggest looking for pressure cast wheels if you can find that info, They generally will be lighter, better balanced and likely even a little stronger than comparable regular cast wheels.

Forged and billet wheels are made from better, less porous, more uniform gain material, and require even less material to achieve the desired strength, but these wheels are really above and beyond what you will want, or at least what I think you will want to pay for. $$$$

That is all off memory, so one of the engineer guys here will have to come along to correct/straighten out the info I provided, or you can search and read for yourself.

Wow, I didn't expect that much detail! I'm definitely learning as I go. Thank you.
