After flop maintenance?

If there was no evidence of fluid loss on the trail after the flop, what about the flop is causing this urgency to check fluid levels? 🤣

Lots of differentials and transfer cases have topside vents. I'm pretty sure some TJ transfer cases have vents and the front differential also. That's why supposed to change drivetrain fluids when a component gets submerged underwater.

This thread is reminding me I need to change ALL my fluids that aren't motor oil on both my XJ and TJ. And just thinking about it makes me feel tired. Sigh. My other cars also need all their fluids changed out.

Even brake fluid. sigh...

Except that he was not in a creek during the flop. Again, if there was no evidence of fluid loss on the trail, what is he checking for?

Water submergence was just to make a point. I guess you have a point too, but I'd be checking, for peace of mind. I couldn't be sure some didn't spray out somewhere until I got under there and verified it.

There is a difference between looking for a puddle of oil after a flop and checking fluid levels for some reason after a flop.

there was a tiny bit of oil at the bottom of the notch when we left.

i don’t think you lost much fluid at all. other than the La Croix

I went through with that spill kit, looked like mostly coolant. All seals are new on both axles, sounds like I'm good to go
