Thought this would be interesting reading - at least for me
Woke at 7:35 - way late but needed the rest
Out the door at 8:05 - cleaned up, clean cut and clean shaved (thanks Jason Aldean)
Hit the Andrew’s job. Made a note to get metal roof ordered.
Then my new shop- loaded my transit, hit the restroom and headed out- had a worker there to mow- he was dawdling- I bumped his supervisor to get him going
Next stop the granite shop- they left an extra sink at my 4 mile post job- returned it
Then the old shop where we build cabinets- left a payment on a delivery
Back to new shop- wanted to see if my guy was mowing - he was- kept rolling. You only get what you inspect , not expect.
Next stop Poncianna Job - walked the job with the wood floor installer - went over where to change direction and break in doors
Then Cooper- picked up a check client left, walked job in silence- what do I see right, wrong , etc. Plugged in an appliance and secured house
Hit Chik Fil A. Lord I’m glad they can run a drive through .
Next stop Teakwood- met painter and walked punch list - he has a lot to do- arranged a helper to come in and detail paint on wood floors where trim was changed to thinner baseboard- odd problem, not on him. Exercise room locked I needed to see. Arranged to get in later in day.
Then Cassandra- oh boy- clients’ sister got in their moms old house and pulled the wallpaper- only the top came off. Our work ties to it. Arranged to help correct this as an add. Client needs looked out for - sister had good intentions but is in over her head.
Next was 4 mile post - left a backsplash piece with Sam, walked the job- nearly done here. Til we do next bath.
Next O Reillys - oil and filters for Jeep and truck- got sort of into it with the counter guys - their low price policy apparently doesn’t apply to Wal Mart. They said they aren’t “competition .” I told them “if they are beating your price $10 on an $18 dollar oil filter they are kicking your butt. It’s obvious who is not competition in that game.”
Lowell Job- footing failed inspection- new requirement bit us. By now it’s 2:40. Ordered a mini x- set grade, Windham stayed and dug the extra the inspector required and I went back to teakwood , arranged a mechanical sub to hide lines, made sure help I sent was working on floor detail work and checked exercise room, added trim for teakwood exercise room and lined up more rebar for Lowell with my supplier and arranged a pick up for all that in am
Gas station beanie weanies and doritos- gonna pay later
Back to Lowell- she’s good, verified yardage and lined up reinspection and pump truck and lined out Windham for a.m.
Went and got my trailer - went to meet Mr. Cannon, opened his new front door shipping crate, verified it fit and arranged to call to set up install.
At this point I’ve handled 300-400 texts and emails. Only made one phone call all day- Mark @Wranglerfix. The phone is a huge waste of time generally. If it’s information- it is electronic. Emotion- we call. Every client is continuously updated on all statuses, no vendors ever left hanging for info or money.
Headed home - set up truck to cool during church and got my jeep, covered my other Jeep (washed cover last night). Killed phone.
Went to church - come on pastor, drink a Red Bull, we need to get this done …..
After church went home - started to change truck oil- got it draining - went in house and realized someone ate my supper and all my 18 volt batteries and oil pan were gone from shop- not a pretty scene.
Ate some souped up yogurt, took out the trash and went back to truck, finished oil change.
Son brings batteries he didn’t take (
)
Loaded shop garbage in trailer to take to church dumpster
Changed the TJ oil- modified a filter to do a clean oil change with a skid- will post on that soon. Worked great.
Lightly washed the TJ because of my grimy hands
Drove it to the bank to dry off and deposited check I got this a.m.
Came home , parked it, wiped off all bugs with detailer and closed the shop
Hopped in truck- dumped shop garbage in church dumpster (give the lord all your cares….). You could build a stock TJ with all the parts I’ve put in there
Brought truck back, locked it and trailer
Checked the shop, went home , ate cornbread and milk
Chunked junk mail
Shower
Washed my boot insoles and cleaned my boots
Posted this and it’s bed time for Bonzo.
Maybe I’ll get something done tomorrow.
The Jeep Invasion is this weekend- really has me motivated to leave work buttoned up Friday.
