im just curious to know what’s been the highest mileage you guys have seen on your 4.0 litre engines? My 05 LJ currently sits at 350,000km on the original engine and Im wondering how much longer I have tbh. It’s still running strong it seems but Im looking to have the engine replaced eventually.

In freedom units that's around 217,000 miles. Just for context for most TJ owners.

Did somebody say freedom ?
Here's a baby freedom seed 😆

I'm at 246k on my Lj,sees tons of rev. limiter with many more hoodrat activities to follow that and she lives happily to see many more days 😁 I also take great care of my Lj but even then there's jeeps out there thar aren't on a religious schedule for oil changes etc. And they go over 300k But they also aren't driven like race cars lol so I wouldn't know how much these 4.0s last unless I know how one drives !
If I'm easy on the nitrous I should see 300k miles on my 4.0😁

That seed needs to grow larger before using it. 🇺🇸

I'm not even close to that...but when I was younger I had a Chevy Nova with the 251 straight 6 with over 400k before rust ate up the vehicle. Straight sixes go a long time even if you are not timely with maintenance, very forgiving.

Very hard to tell how long one will last. My Apex had a nice rap when I bought it and it had 200k miles on it. The motor broke a piston skirt. This seems to be (anectdotally) the preferred method of failure of these motors.
