this is probably a real dumb question, but....What is the chances of 30/35 axles with 4.88 gear with Spartans in both hold up with 33x8x16 tractor tires in the Florida mud? stock 4.0l and ax-15 with a 2.5 lift. https://i5.walmartimages.com/seo/De....jpeg?odnHeight=573&odnWidth=573&odnBg=FFFFFF

Are you just going to be running mud?? Central Florida mud or Everglades mud, there is a difference.

You would be better off to upgrade the axle shafts and hope if you have maximum wheel spin/speed you don't hit anything solid.

They'll work right up until they don't. A quick Google search is showing there's some XJ's that have done it over the years with a few on stock axles (more on tons). But in reality, I'm here for it and would love to see it! I don't do mud, unless it's a necessary part of the trail, and know next to nothing about building for mud, but they can look cool.

Honestly building for mud, the 4.0 isn't the best choice. Really for mud you need lots of lift, lots of horse power and extreme parts.

74 Bronco Currie 9" rear and steer axles. Freaking 12" F150 lift, 351W stroked to 427 putting down 700hp NA. Stopped racing when they made me go to the 44" tire class (this was in the 80's) had way more $$$$ in it than I could ever get out of it.

Wheel speed is everything.

I understand that side of it, but I don't imagine that's the type of mudding he's talking about in a nearly stock TJ. I'm picturing like muddy trail riding and "reasonable" mud holes. But yea, the 4.0 isn't going to be launching mud into the sky!

I used to live and work in Moses Lake, WA and the dunes have an area known as the mud flats that are only open seasonally. Every year they have a big drag race event and bounty hole. Some of the built rigs that come from our of the area are wild. There was a local guy that had a Dodge on probably 60"+ ag tires and the door was about 7 feet in the air. Monster/mega truck style ladder frame and all. It was fun to go watch. And fun to watch the guys that thought they were hot stuff bury their truck's and SxS. Especially when it was obviously daddy's 😂

these aren't meant for everyday driving, they would be just for special events they have down here in Fl. like jeeptoberfest, most of it will be run with my daily driver tires, 33x12.50 but for the exteremene mud trails they suggest 35" minimume tire size, but with the 33" tractors on my 2.5" lifted TJ with 4.88 and chromoly axles shafts, I'm thinking could go anywhere the guys with 35s could go.

I mean you gotta find the weak link somehow lol (it's usually right between my ears, but you know). Down here in Fl. you got sugar sand and mud, so that's what we play in.

yep just putting through the mud in low range, and easy on the skinny pedal
