Looking for suggestions on which deep pan I should buy for my 32RH as I finish rebuilding it. Also if there is a trans cooler that is recommended that would be awesome too. This TJ is going to be a daily driver and won’t be seeing any real off roading. Thanks yall!

I forgot about the temp sensor…. @hear told me to put one in, I’m glad you brought it up. What temp sensor did you get @hosejockey61?

Most temp gauges will come with the sending unit. I used a Glowshift and have had ZERO issues with it. They don't have amazingly steller reviews, but I didn't want to pay Autometer prices and it seemed like a lot of the problems are more around a crappy install/wiring job.

I’ll check them out asap. I was looking through other threads about coolers and it looks like the Derale 20561 is the highly recommended, so it looks like that’s the one I’ll probably be ordering soon

Another one with the RT Offroad deep pan from Summit. Cant remember what I paid for it, but its only $60 on summit. For trans temp, I went with Autometer, at the time (earlier this year), the cheapest I could find was $80 +/-. This is the one that has "Jeep" on it.

The 32rh is not as prone to heat build up. You'd be fine with something much cheaper than the electric fan derale. Any tube and fin cooler will work

Only Jerry highly recommended the Derale cooler and did so frequently. And he never had a temp sensor and he never knew if he needed a cooler.

I reckon I’ll put the temp sensor in a deep pan and if I see that there’s a need for a cooler add it on later. Just trying to get my ducks in a row while I’m putting it all back together so that I save myself some headaches after I’m done. Thanks for all the advice everyone

I used a Hayden attached to the radiator support, and plumbed it after the trans cooler in the radiator. Dropped my temps by ~50F. We were just discussing all this in another thread, but put the gauge in before the cooler if possible in order to know (a) if a cooler is necessary and (b) to what extent it is improving temps.

Also I know this isn’t pan related but I’m about to buy a new torque converter and I feel to remember reading that the pro-king cr90 is a direct replacement but can’t recall if that’s it or not and I’m using my phone this morning so it’s a pain in the ass for me to navigate the forums to see it that was it or not.

I've bought 2 of those.

One went right on my (later) 97. Then I rebuilt my daughter's (early) 97 and I absolutely could not get it to seat fully. The old one went right on. I ended up re-using her old one since the rebuild was really only a bad pump seal, so there was no real mess in the fluid. I would have preferred to put the new one on, but I got tired of fighting it.

FWIW, I tried really hard to find the factory stall speed for a 32RH TC but couldn't find anything. I'm not 100% conviced the CR-90 is 100% identical to OEM; my shift points moved after the rebuild of mine but not hers, and the only difference in components is that she has the OEM TC and I have the CR-90. Now I did also change my TV cable, but no amount of adjustment has put the 1-2 shift exactly where I want it under normal pedal. I'm interested to know what your results are.

I’m looking forward to finding out my results as well but the 32rh gods insist on repeatedly kicking me in the nuts. I got the new, new steels in today, the ones that are .68 instead of .88 or whatever the first ones were and just started putting it all together and when I got the pressure plate down and started to put the wavy ring in I noticed that there was no slot for the ring to slide into on one side, so I looked at the other side and there it was. I took all the plates back out thinking I surely dropped something in the bottom that made one side rise up higher than the other but it was only metal. I laid a straight edge across the top and measured the depth on one side and then directly across and it was nearly an 1/8” difference. Now I think we know what wore the clutches down to bare metal and wore the original steels down so bad. @hear have you ever had a drum with an uneven face at the bottom like this? I’m really curious how the hell that managed to happen. Anyway, here are a couple pictures of one side compared to the other with the pressure plate in.
