My 2006 Wrangler has been throwing codes for about 2 years. P0457, P0456, U0155, U0101. I’m thinking electrical issues. Only happens in cold , damp weather. Results are a jerky acceleration and a prolonged cold start. Dealer told me new computer, $3000 and they are ba k ordered. Sent the computer off to NC and was bench tested to be fine. I’m sure I’m not the only one with this issue and sorry but I’m new here. Greetings from Sunny and cold Florida.

Screw the dealer. IF it is computer related, @Wranglerfix is where you need to go. A computer for an 06 manual is "only" $1k from him, and an auto looks to be around $600.

Mark can help you diagnose if it is truly computer related.

What do the connectors look like running to the ECU? Specifically the pins.

Check all your grounds?

@Yacker The U codes that you have come back to communication with the pcm. The p codes come back to a possible evap leak. Have you had the Jeep smoked for leaks? How is your shifting from 1st to 2nd when cold?

I'd start with your battery terminals.

You should have a firewall ground between the ECU and engine.

And one attached to the block on the passenger side.

Start there.

And unplug the ECU and send us pictures of how the connectors and pins look.

I don't accept that prognosis. Have you tried to identify the source of the leak(s)? RMS is not super hard to do, and the valve cover gasket is another likely culprit and is very easy to replace. Also check your breathers & such, that they aren't forcing oil out through other places.

Just had the valve cover gasket done. RMS?
