Hey everyone! I’ve skimmed through lots of the threads to not see a problem like mine, can someone help? I’ve got a 2003 TJ X trim, 4.0 I6 with the 42RLE trans, so my turn signals work as they should when headlights are off. However when I’m on park light or headlight the driver side signals work as they should, and the passenger side lights up as if it’s going to blink, but then stays on, it doesn’t flash. It’s not the problem where people’s lights would just be on or the dash show it and the light itself is off, this seems entirely new, I’ve replaced all lighting, I’ve replaced the Turn signal switch or MFS, I’ve replaced the flasher relay, I’ve replaced the “Park lamp” and “Stop lamp” and “Turn signal” fuses in the glovebox, to no avail, how is it working when the lights are off but when the lights are on it decides to do that? Mind you it used to never do it, then it became an intermittent problem, and now it’s a permanent problem. Any help would be appreciated. I know it looks the same as the light problem people have had but I’ve replaced a lot already and nothing is working!

Might I add too, the picture doesn’t do it justice, I know the problem where the right turn signal light lights up on the dash when headlights are on, but mine only lights up solid when the actual turn signal is switched to right; so if I’m not turning, all lights are on as should be, then turn right with signal, the signal gets brighter for a half second, then dim, with no flash, finishing turn the turn signal stalk flicks back to off position and everything is normal.

Update- cleaned the ground at both headlights the driver single wire and the passenger two wire, the ribbon ones coming off of the block to the firewall/hood, and the main ground from negative battery terminal to the engine block by the oil filter and to the firewall on passenger side, nothing has changed!

Have you tried replacing the relay?

Also, factory bulbs I assume, no LEDs?

Hey! Yes, replaced the relay, I have LED taillights and all it used to do was hyper flash, but replaced it so now it blinks normally when in daytime when the running lights or headlights aren’t on

What I also did was look at the bulbs themselves and noticed something funny, when the headlights are on, and I turn the signal to right, the side marker bulb gets extremely dim, almost off, then when the headlights are off, they both actually blink, and are bright as all get out!

And it's ONLY LED taillights you have, right? No side marker LEDs or anything, right?

If it were me I'd put the stock taillights back on there just to test that things work okay in stock configuration.

Yes only LED taillights! I don’t have access and can’t afford stock setup right now haha! It’s just weird that they may have worked before, but now all of the sudden don’t.

2 things.

Have you checked the wiring harness under the front of each fender? I was having a similar problem and found 2 wires shorted between the side marker lights and the turn signal front light.

I just updated my taillights and front turn and side marker lights to LED. The PO had updated the headlights. I have the removed stock taillights and you can have them if you’re willing to pay postage. I’m in Southern Nevada. Just private message me.

Hey there! Yeah as far as I know it seemed okay, I just rewired the side marker light to be safe and it does the same thing still when happening, so do I need to undo the whole loom and look? Wouldn’t a short cause a fuse to pop or for it to not work? I have no idea about electrical I can rebuild an engine with my eyes shut but wires? No thanks lol!

Also at this time I don’t have the support donation membership, so I can’t send private messages either, just started yesterday!

Did you find the issue? I have the same issue. No led bulbs. new LM470 flasher. all grounds cleaned from 1 end of the jeep to the other. Only right-side arrow with headlights on. everything works as it should with headlights off.

I went back over my grounds again. Seems the right front to radiator bracket ground had some corrosion in the wire. Cut it back, replaced terminal. Solid light arrow is now gone. guess I need to go get breakfast now. I Have the top off and it is not raining. Yea!
