He everyone quick question. I’ve owned my Jeep for about a year now and wondering if there is any way to get more power. Turning off AC definitely gives me more power, but getting used to it. I recently learned what torque management is and I’m not quite certain if the TJ even has that. If it does, what wire do I snip(attach a switch), does it hurt the car if I dont step on it often(150k miles)? Thanks everyone

Add a turbo... boost solves everything...

Or a dyno tune to sort out what might be robbing you of power. Twenty year old parts can stack up to a lot of issues.

Fill out your profile with engine/trans/gear ratio/tire size etc.

The 4.0l is peppy with the right gearing. Most budget jeeps have terrible gear ratios

2002 TJ has Torque management but looks to be disabled.
The 2005/6 TJs have Torque Management and it is enabled in stock form.

Interesting, I am guessing that is some specific timing retarding between shifts?

My understanding of torque management was more around the "requested torque" type, where the engine can calculate how much torque is being generated and will target a certain amount in lower gears, etc.

Regear the axles to suit the transmission and tire size. Aim for at least 3k rpm at 75mph.

Hey! Turning off the AC is a good start, but I'm not sure about torque management on your TJ. It's unlikely, but check your manual or ask a mechanic to confirm. As for snipping wires, I'd advise against it - it's risky and could cause damage. Instead, consider upgrading your air filter, exhaust, or lightening your load to get a bit more power. Just

I have an upgraded intake, muffler delete, 31s, and a hardtop

Come to think of it, I'm pretty there's an A/C disengage built into the tuning as well... don't remember if the JTEC PCMs have it but I'm 95% positive it's there on the NGCs in the form of RPM, speed, and throttle voltage cutoffs so it'll disengage the clutch when you put your foot down...
