Psyching myself up to engage in and complete a 2.5L to 4.0L swap. Parts acquired: 1997 Cherokee straight 6 (87K claimed on odometer?), AX-15 5spd bruce jenner, w/bell housing, new clutch and flywheel, 231 J transfer case, both shafts, engine wiring harness, and an ECM from a 99 4.0. Will I require the fuse box from a 4.0? There will be no A/C, all jeeps have the 2-60 a/c system. I see the steering bar mount will have to be moved as well. will a 4.0 steering bar be required? they seem to be different? Lastly, on cutting off and welding new frame mounts for the engine mounts to bolt to, how many options are out there to choose from? I have only seen one from MOUNTAIN OFF ROAD. I'm considering making my own? Looking for answers to questions from those that have already done this. Any advice from the experienced shall be appreciated. Thank You

When I did mine I was able to reuse the lower steering shaft. I also used the Mountain Offroad mounts, they were straight forward to install. I had a rust bucket 98 to swap parts from, I was adding features to my 97 so I swapped all the harnesses into mine so I could add A/C, cruise control ect.

When I lost my 4.0 frame I just cut off the mounts and moved them over to my replacement 2.5 frame.

Wasn't hard.
