1998 TJ Center Console Inserts

Good afternoon! First time posting on here. Working on a bunch of updates to my 98 TJ, but one thing that is driving me nuts is the actual factory inserts for the center console. I found something that sort of fits, but I would prefer to find the right inserts. I cannot find anywhere?! Any ideas? Below is an image of the spot I am trying to fill which is the furthest (nearly under the dash and right in front of the gear shift)

That console is very different than the one in my ‘98. Mine is a manual transmission; no idea if an auto is different.

Odd! Mine is a manual too. I just pulled the it out today and it does not seem like it had been removed before? I guess it could have been swapped out at some point?

Thank you! I did see a couple of pictures of consoles with an airbag bezel and what look like a cig lighter port. I do not have a wiring harness under the dash though?

I guess what I thought was a lighter port was for the key to turn off the airbag. Your description helped me search, but still is odd that I have no wiring harness back there.

Is there a way to delete the console mounted airbag switch without setting the airbag light on 2000 tj se ?

I would guess that if you have that console but not wiring for it, it might not be the original console. Skimmed through that airbag switch delete thread posted above and it doesn't look like a 98 year model thing.

I guess I am going to keep the tray I have in here. Since I took the console off, I was able to mount it a little better. Thanks for the replies everyone!

For some reason, not all 1998 models got the passenger side airbag disarm bezel.

My 1998 model that I purchased in 1999 has a completely open tray insert there.

I think the later TJs got a similar tray with the coin slots.

Thanks Rick. Definitely nice to know I am not nuts (at least with this issue). My coin tray insert does not really fit snug, but I guess it’s the best I can do. Our Jeep is just a run around kicker—not a show Jeep anyway. Made the mistake of taking up the carpets and finding a ton of rust, so now I have another project to do! Oh and the exhaust is leaking so I have that, and the rear shocks! LOL, we have had “Rusty” for a few years, but I had not had time to really dig around and start working on him. Not sure if I am excited or depressed! Just Empty Every Pocket.

Just kidding, absolutely nothing better than mountain drives with the top down!

Maybe a thin bead of silicone sealant/adhesive around the perimeter will help.
