Sorry if this has been discussed lately, as in 2025. If so please point me to the thread. But...is there any 10W-30 conventional high mileage motor oil out there. My 2000 TJ 4.0 has an occasional drip from the rear main seal and wanted to try high mileage oil. If not, will the blended high mileage possibly help with the drip. I have been warned not to use synthetic and never have.

You can buy Quaker State conventional 10W-30 and 10W-40 ALL MILEAGE at Wally World in gallons and quarts. Worked for me.

If you go the blended route, I’ve had success with Valvoline High Mileage 10w-30. I’ve been using it since 2016. I had a leak back in 2017 that I suspected was the rear main seal, but when I got the oil pan off I could see the oil pan gasket was messed up in the back. Didn’t change the rear main seal, put it all back together with a new oil pan gasket and have had no issues.

I sure would like to find some conventional high mileage!

If it says Conventional right on the bottle you have in your hand, it's conventional. Otherwise it's not, no matter what Wally World or Amazon or anyone else says, or what old photos they show you.

Most manufacturers quietly stopped making full conventional a few years ago. Check their websites. Pretty much every "conventional" oil people are still using are actually a syn-blend.

My RMS leak slowed with conventional high-mileage, and when that became unavailable, the leak slowed even more with Valvoline High Mileage syn-blend. The Jeep still gets excited and piddles a drop or two once in a while.

99 4.0 here. I switched to castrol high mileage gtx. Driven it from 127,000-167,000 now, without these supposed leaks everyones talking about. One thing that really helped my jeep was changing to 20,000 mile rated oil filters. This cleans up the entire system slowly over time. What i do is change the oil after its darkened, add a quart, wait till it wants to fuss about 2 months usually, change oil and filter, and so on, changing oil at most 2 times a year... i dont change my filter but once a year. The oil will start running ambery for three times the distance. Instead of pitch black at 1,000 miles like typical stuff on the dip stick. And if you want. Try 4 hole injectors. When i switched, instantly noticed a reduction in the legendary knock, smoother acceleration, and better power. That translates to a longer power train life. But they will heat soak if you sit too long on a hot day ...
