when I decided to buy an LJ I told myself I was going to keep the fenders stock instead of doing MCE's again. Your photos (and the scarcity of Rubi/Sahara width flares) is making me second-guess.

Especially since I never installed the rears on my TJ, so I'd only have to buy the fronts.

That's a nice way to compliment. 😊

With the 4.5" width giving a bit more coverage, the LifeTime Warranty, the extra up clearance in the front (eliminating the seam and some of the inner fender closer to the hood, and the fact that the texture is a lot like stock, with a flatty up front which reminds me of the old Willy's Jeeps, I thought it was a good move. To be honest, I was very skeptical whether I would like them or not. The rears I like a lot. The front I like, but they still need to grow on me. The area around the grill turned out great and I am very pleased with it. I'm also glad that my front tires don't hit the flares anymore, because they were bending them and causing microabrasions that were making them look old and bad. Re-painting them would have been a waste of time and money. I held out for a long time for some Rubicon/Sahara flares, but with all I know now, I'd opt for the MCE's again any day.

Now go test it. Report back.
The report on the AntiRock...set in the 3rd hole (farthest to the rear).

On road it functions to me something like a stock swaybar. I have stability on cornering. Everything feels firm and tight.

Off-road I have less sway after going over a rock or steep embankment off-camber.

So far I'm pleased, but I haven't wheeled it enough to say it's a radical change from being disconnected.

I don't have to disconnect, and that's a huge bonus, more than I expected.

yep. All the same reasons I put them on the TJ.

There are a few things I could have done better on the installation, so I'd know that going in this time. I just have a hard time because stock (Rubicon) fenders can look so good, too.

So why not pick up a pair of used slightly beat up front fenders and then get the MCE flares but keep your stock fenders put away if you ever choose to go back?

not the worst idea.

Just an idea if you don't want to cut up GOOD fenders. Which I totally understand. Mine were like JMT's when I did my tube fenders from driving by brail on a couple of snow runs. So I wasn't really losing anything by cutting mine.

I got the Maxxis Razr's mounted up and balanced. They are a nice tire, but already louder than my Cooper STT Pro's. It's not an extreme difference, but it is noticeable. I'm not excited about that and what it may mean down the road a few miles, but we'll see how they wheel. The traction on wet roads is outstanding. I'm slamming on the brakes and no sliding, just a firm short stop. I found out Maxxis is owned by Michelin.

I'll post pics soon, maybe tomorrow.

Thanks for the update. I just made the trek down from Oregon to San Antonio with my wife's car and spotted at least 7 people with Maxxis tires in the northwest. The top two were the RAZR MT and the Bighorn. Safe to say people are enjoying their rain/wet/snow performance.

Interesting, that's great to hear! I'm looking forward to seeing how they perform in wet creek beds with waterfalls I have to crawl up! Also interested in the snow performance. Thanks for sharing that info.
