Greetings,
I'm contemplating trading my '98 TJ for a 2001 Cherokee. I'm somewhat concerned by what I've read about the 0331 cylinder heads. How concerned should I be?
Thanks,
JDE

Bought my 2001 TJ in 2018, it had 58000 miles on it. Started loosing coolant, not into the oil but was burning it. Had the 0331 heads. Replaced the head with a Clearwater head along with the radiator and water pump. I'm at 73000 miles now and she's running great. Don't know the percentages of failures but it is an issue with a lot if them.

Pull the oil cap and look down, it you see TUPY, it's already been replaced.

If not, plan on a head replacement at some point.

I’d go for it if you really want the XJ, and just be prepared for a head swap if something happens. Seems as if it’s a gamble on it failing or not, but if it does you are ready and know what to do.
