Went to local workshop to spitball engine conversions.. Then they took me for a blast in a Defender 90 with M57/ZF 6HP swap and god damn.. I might almost be sold.

That yellow looks great, has it got a lift on it? Doesn't help that the ignition barrel doesn't have very noticeable steps between lock and accessory. But now I'm being extra careful. The surround doesn't have markings either which seems like a missed opportunity

Thanks, it's basically stock and first I'm tidying things up/fixing what needs fixing and then i'll get into the modification side of things.

lol ok here's a pic, don't have a comparison between old and new but suffice to ssay the door uppers are nice and grey (and in the garage where they belong) compared to this nice black twil look.

Considered that option but in the end I bought a Double DIN fascia and I'll be going with a 6.8" screen or similar. Floating setups aren't bad but I cant help but feel it'll block off the vents a bit or leave a bit of a gap which will irk me over time
