    New Tool Day

I've never laid any kind of power wrench onto any of my vehicles. I finally had to break down. I'm working on a timing belt change on my Volvo wagon and I needed an impact to knock the drive pully off without locking the motor. I got a Harbor Freight Bauer 1/2" 20V impact wrench for a good...

    Any fellow smokers here?

I got lazy for a long time and did my grilling on my propane grill. Quick and easy, but no joy in it. I recently went back to my Weber Smoky Joe with charcoal. I'm trying to slow down; I really enjoy going through the process, and the result is so much better.

Anyone carry a military E-tool in their wheeler?

My neighbor charged up with his snowmobile buddies into a death zone in the San Juans to go high marking. He wound up buried 60' deep - 30' during the first slide, then another 30' deep to finish it. He was buried in March and not melted out until June. That's a lot of shovel work! I used to...

The lack of kids playing outside

There's a local road here that I go back and forth on. There's a home with stupid troublemakers. I caught one of them trespassing out on my place. I saw him duck out onto my canyon rim trail and not come out. I jumped in my truck, went out to the road, turned around and there he came toward me...

    RIP Greg Biffle

I remember watching his Subway commercials with his crew chief, smashing sandwiches, flying meat and veggies. Very funny stuff.

    Any fellow smokers here?

I did a few pork short ribs a while back, as an aside, as I trimmed them off of a full rack. Very tasty. I can't speak to the Bluetooth thermometer. I fitted a plain old analog dial gauge to my retrofitted electric smoker, and I use a simple digital meat thermometer with a remote wired probe to...

The meat gazers corner (a place to show off yer meat)

Food porn! I have a couple of freezers stuffed full of ground beef from local grass-fed cows. I ate a lot of it as burgers, but got a yearning for more fat. I've mixed in ground pork in the past; I think I'll give that another run.

    Hahahaha, great stuff!

    Any fellow smokers here?

I will have a look at those, always looking to learn.

    Any fellow smokers here?

Of the meat smoking variety! I tried running a small Masterbuilt electric smoker for a while, and never got the kind of results I wanted. I threw it onto my scrap pile, and then retrieved it and repurposed it to run on charcoal. Bing! Oh my! I'm scarfing a pork tenderloin today. Crazy, in the...

The lack of kids playing outside

Unfortunately, I had a prominent role in developing it. I thought it would be a positive force, opening up channels for the delivery of Mankind's historical knowledge at our fingertips. "Forgive me, for I know not what I do..."

    Canyons of the Ancients

Well I reached a decision point. I thought about charging off into my old stomping grounds in SE Utah, but I'm just not feeling it. I have miles of fun trails right here on my own place. There're tough places I haven't been to for years. I'd rather run out here and take the chance of a problem...

The lack of kids playing outside

Oh my! When we were kids, we roamed the open lands around our suburbia like Wild Indians. We'd take off in the morning with a baloney sandwich, on our bicycles, or on foot, maybe toting a fishing pole and some matches. Water was to be found in the creek bottoms, what could be wrong with that...

One of my best ever mods

I have vehicles with heated seats. Aaaahhh...so nice. But hey!....it's a Jeep! Damn, next, people will be talking about electric windows and locks!

    RIP Greg Biffle

There was a race where Greg Biffle, Dick Trickle and Rich Bickle were all on the track at the same time! I kid you not! Epic stuff. Greg Biffle belongs in the Hall of Fame.

One of my best ever mods

When I began converting the Jeep from my wife's DD to a trail rig, the steering wheel needed attention. She had some kind of foam wrapper around it; it worked for her in the day, but not for me. I found the right size leather cover and very carefully laced it on. I'm not any kind of good...

    Canyons of the Ancients

It was another fine day of mild weather, considering we're coming up on the Winter Solstice. I went out and poked around again. It's a good time to smash in my trails that were neglected for a few years. There's a conventional narrative that this is an incredibly fragile place that falls apart...

    RIP Greg Biffle

And his family; just an awful tragedy. I remember when he came up and tore right through the Trucks and Xfinity (whatever it was back then) and then through a bunch of Cup victories and a 2nd place championship run. An Old school guy who was noticed racing in regional series by someone who knew...
