I'm starting to wonder if "top grade lumber" exists anymore. I used to go to the local lumber yard to get good lumber. The last time I did, though, theirs wasn't any better than the box stores crap.

Thank you. I went against Benny Hills advice and kind of assumed they were motorized, just didn't know anything from there. That bottom one would work good for hauling hay!

I'm trying to wrap my head around this statement. Since when does "need" have anything to do with making a really good, irrational buying decision? My wife and I have 5 4x4 vehicles, could probably do just fine with 1. Don't tell her I said that...

Any guess what caused it to come apart? Are you thinking it happened when the output shaft got bent? It's not bent a ton- maybe 1/16" is all. I'm kind of afraid to pull the one off my other tcase and break it, too.

Am I safe to assume the other tcase from an XJ would not work? It's not readily accessible to compare input shafts but I'd assume they are different?

If you have been using dino oil, I'd stick with it. Synthetic can exasperate oil consumption. Me? I'd go with good old Valvoline 10W40.

So, finally got to taking the TCase apart to replace the output shaft that got bent back in August. The rear driveshaft on my '97 TJ came off at highway speed, which bent the shaft. Upon taking the unit apart today, I find this. The inside of the tailshaft housing that the bearing rests against...
