Should I replace my engine or to sell the Jeep and cut my losses?

Replace the engine. I was faced with the same dilemma a week after I bought my '98. I wouldn't have been able to sell it for half what I paid, so I committed to a "new" engine. You already recognize that you can't replace yours for close to what you'll get out of it. You can get a rebuilt...

    Recommendations On Flat Style Flares

The ones I installed were similar to these. I'm happy with the look and performance so far. https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/fender-flare-replacement-options.38259/#post-634859

    Sturdier wire for light runs

16/2 landscape wire is only rated for 13 amps and a max temp of 140 degrees F. For reference, 150 degrees F is usually a temp you can touch, but not comfortably hold on to. Automotive wire wire has max temp ratings of at least 175 degrees F with 250 degrees F common. I'd be careful with...

What did you do to your TJ today?

Thanks. That's exactly what I was considering. A guy I work with can do it.

What did you do to your TJ today?

Replaced my fuel pump. Again. Delphi. Lasted about 18 months. Went with a Delphi. Again. Before this becomes an indictment of the Delphi pumps, I need to point out a few things. It was one of the check valves failing. The pump was still working, I just had long crank syndrome. It was...

Trying to get this aftermarket door seal to fit

My 1998 had three or four extra holes not used by the OEM seal, but they just were plugged. I just had to remove the plugs and had extra clip points around the bottom.

Trying to get this aftermarket door seal to fit

I bought this for the driver's door and it's equivalent for the passenger: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00W67U6QS/?tag=wranglerorg-20 I had no problem with the fit on either. On the driver's side, it cured a persistent leak at the upper forward corner. I just installed the passenger...

    Stripped and rusty bolts

These: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002NYBH8/?tag=wranglerorg-20 Start with the smallest drill bit (left hand, reverse cut) and work your way up until you think an extractor will work. Sometimes you'll back the bolt out with the drill bits and not have to use the extractor. You've got...

Can anyone recommend a mirror setup that works both with the doors on and off?

I have OEM mirrors attached to these and like the solution. Doors on, doors off, mirrors don't change. They take a little creativity to get right. I fabbed an extension for the right mirror using 1x1 square tube to locate the mirror so it could be easily seen from the driver's seat.

What temperature does your Jeep run at?

Aftermarket. Based on some recommendations on here, it seems Hayden is an acceptable brand. I ordered a Hayden from Amazon, but got in a hurry and picked one up at O'Reilly's. Based on the low price and ease of install, I figured it was a low-risk flyer to take.

What temperature does your Jeep run at?

In an attempt to prevent that, I'll belabor this a little and point out that I had worked through and eliminated the other potential causes and solutions. Working through a diagnostic tree in my head assembled from the advice on here and considering the details of the symptoms made the fan...

I think I caught it early. OCD led to OBD.

What temperature does your Jeep run at?

Exactly. Just like on a Honda Valkyrie motorcycle, the first response to a no-crank or crank-no-start is advice to clean the starter switch. But it's usually really a battery problem and the tell-tale is that it you'll have lights and horn, but not enough juice to fire the coils. A jump start...

What temperature does your Jeep run at?

I agree. For me, it's about understanding the why and the how in addition to the what. In this forum, as with all automotive forums I've participated in, good and bad advice gets mixed together and usually there are people who offer single-solution answers to multi-cause conditions. It takes...

What temperature does your Jeep run at?

Screenshot sitting in the drive after a 12 mile run up the interstate at 75 mph. I live less than a mile from where I get off the highway. It dropped from it's high of 213.8 to this temp in that distance. Outside temp is 91 F.

What temperature does your Jeep run at?

I puzzled through that with the clue being there should be significant resistance to spinning the fan by hand when the engine is hot. That makes me think that when it's in early stages of failure, it free-wheels just enough to affect both the slow and highway speeds some, while highway-speed...

What temperature does your Jeep run at?

I've been closely following threads like this. I've never been happy with the fact that when the outside temp was above 60° F and at sustained highway speeds, my needle would move to the right edge of the zero in the 210 label on the gauge. The radiator, hoses, water pump, thermostat, and...
