Which one of these TJs would you choose?

    Now that would be depressing.

Which one of these TJs would you choose?

I'd have to agree. Paint is fine if it's not hiding rust. This Jeep has always been in California and Nevada so rust shouldn't be an issue. I'll be looking at it tomorrow morning so I'll find out.

Looks like I'm getting this one

Well, the frame rust on this one kept bugging me. Probably going to pass on it.

Which one of these TJs would you choose?

Thanks! I'm currently in negotiations with the owners of #2 and #3. Here is the frame on #2. Looks good.

Which one of these TJs would you choose?

Hi Gents. I've been looking for a nice TJ and have come across several nearby. I'm having trouble deciding on which one. All have the 4.0L engine and manual transmission and are similarly equipped. Price is close at around $10K. Mileage is not terrible, ranges from 103k to 136K I'll go...

Looks like I'm getting this one

I gave this one a good look and took it for a drive today. It's a 2002. Drove nice. Everything works. 137k miles. This one has the 5-speed MT and the Dana 44 with 3.73 ratio. Surprisingly no leaks. Even the rear main. Body is solid with the only issue being the clear coat on the hood is...

    New old guy sends greetings

Well, here is one that popped up locally. 2002 Sahara. I got a quick look at it in the dark. 138K miles. Manual transmission and looks like a Dana 44 rear axle. It spent a few years in Ohio and Kentucky before coming to NV. Frame has some rash but otherwise seems solid. I'll be taking a...

    Castrol Oil

If it's a 4-stroke oil and also has the API SL,SN or SP rating then yes, it should be fine. I was running a synthetic 15w-40 diesel oil that also had the SN rating in my 4.0L XJ.

Thanks for the info. I'll ask the seller about those. This was a Nevada/California Jeep so hopefully rust should be minimal. It's currently in Truckee, CA. Winter is here so I have to wait for a few nice days before I can go up the mountain to look at it.

Ok, here is the next one on my radar. An 06 with 4.0L and manual transmission. Just under 130k miles. Anything I need to be aware of on the later production TJs?

    New old guy sends greetings

Went to look at the Green Sahara this morning. Pretty much all original. Kinda high mileage at over 170,000. Drove and shifted okay. It has the usual leaks. Something in front, maybe trans cooler line, and probably a rear main seal. A/C and heater seemed to work. No codes with my reader...

VA is a little to far. Going to go look at this Sahara tomorrow. Private sale so no sales tax or fees. He's asking $9,500 for it. The sliding windows and half doors are interesting.

Well darn. I just got a call from the sales gal at that dealer. That Jeep just sold. I figured it wouldn't last long. I have it in my mind I want another TJ so I'll keep looking.

Thanks for the suggestions on the frame. I planned to bring a moving blanket to lay on the ground and a flashlight to look underneath. It looks like this Jeep spent almost 3 years in South Dakota then has been in Nevada ever since. I'm hoping there won't be any rust issues.

    New old guy sends greetings

Hi Folks, I'm a long time Jeep owner. Everything from a CJ5 to a JT Gladiator. In between was a TJ, XJ, KJ, JKU and a JLU. I'm currently driving a 23 Colorado ZR2 but have a hankering for a small TJ to go with it. A nearby dealer has a 2002 Wrangler Sahara on the lot for $9,999. It has just...
