    I'd be concerned about the additional strain on the tailgate hanging weight out that far, a couple of good ruts or bumps with the stock setup could mess it it up. Just replaced my tailgate that had a lovely inward curve and twist from repeated closures with a stock rim and spare tire weight.

    If you can feel a temp diff across the hoses when up to temps I would do another garden hose flush and reverse flush thru the top return hose. Temp difference should not really be noticeable, also a bit of CLR just in the core can help.
