    Front differential assembly

Not to mention a potential death trap for you or somebody else if driven on the road. If the housing rusted in two, the rest of it is likely beyond use and unsafe.

    1-Month Review: ATS Diesel 42RLE

Shit aint funny when you spend that kind of $$$ on a fix, but I'm still laughing.

    1-Month Review: ATS Diesel 42RLE

Ouch but not unreasonable. I was quoted $7000 for a 4R100 in my 99 F250 for a well known good builder. No offence XXXX transmissions but Bwahahahahahah.

    Front differential assembly

WTH, the inspectors doing 4wd burnouts er something?? Without more info I cant imaging you needing a entire new front diff, Just the axle which can be had at most any on line supplier or auto parts store. It will be a bit of labor to install, but nothing special. The rear lox?? explain. You...

How do you all keep your stuff in place on a steep hill when opening your tailgate?

No offence but those cargo nets, footman loops, thin floor sheet metal with crappy little screws wont hold in a good roll over or hard wreck.

    Severe Handling Issue

Ive had a few with old school mechanical lockers, CJ, a 59 F100 EX forest service truck that was terrible. On or off the gas, or in corners as expected was a pay attention to where its headed ride. Seems short wheel based rigs and lockers can be squirrely. Going back to your original post are...

This ad makes the TJ look so fresh!

I wish they'ed reintroduce the CJ's. Unfortunately however they would be piles of electronic crap like everything made these days.

Anyone know the bolt size for the hood ground strap?

Seriously? Go grab a few self tappers and nail it in.

    Parasitic electrical drain

Easiest way to determine is to get a digital volt meter with mA capabilities. Disconnect the neg cable and put the meter in line set at 10amps to start and see what you get. You can set the meter lower for smaller draw settings and again see what you have draw wise and go from there. The only...

    Steering kit advice

From what I gather its just a basic front end rebuild kit. In my personal experience Dorman is at the bottom of the barrel quality wise Id go with Moog if anything, may not be the best but likely better than Dorman. OEM parts are probably long gone. May have a look on the likes of rockauto for...

    Ideas for battery disconnect switch

The 99 Tj I bought was set up with a battery disco. The PO parked out on the course of the Mint 400 and was worried about it getting ripped off.. Good idea but... Every time its disco'ed it clears out the adaptive memory. The TJ was a 5 speed, but Im told it will effect auto trans shifts and TC...

    Oil pooling on valve cover

Ha, a local eatery was known for pouring your drink from about 4 feet above your glass. I thought Id try it with some 5/30, made his mess look small. :sneaky:

    Oil pooling on valve cover

Might have a look at the crank vent system. That small plastic line can get carboned up.

    Transmission Skidplate Crossmember Bolt Loose

Would have loved to get my hands on the Russian UAZ or one of their big army trucks. Weirdest this I almost bought was a DKW Munga. Unfortunately is had been modded to much and really ruined the originality of the freak.

Why have TJs come down in price?

This is a fact. The last XJ I bought was a 95 that I paid $2500 for. Perfect shape with around 120K on it. I see them now as high as 10K. This will piss of a few, but as far as ZJ's go Ive had 2. Ive never owned 2 Bigger piles of, it dont work anymore pointless electronic POS. No way did these...

Why have TJs come down in price?

No offence to the real jeepers but I do believe much is "fad" inspired. I've had a lot of jeeps and vehicles, mostly big heavy 4x4's. The jeeps have been the worst in snow and on ice for us. Can say the FJ40ies were any better. The wifes 4runner reigns king for our use. We lived at 7500 ele in...

Do 2003 TJs have OPDA problems

What weight oil U using? I ask because the last 4.0 XJ I had I cheeped out and used 15/40 diesel oil. Screamed when I fired it up on colder days. Changed back to 5/30 and back to normal.
