Metalcloak fender test on stock suspension with 33s

Other than maybe getting a tunable shock in there (if one that short exists), there will be no significant increase in travel. That's one of the drawbacks of a LCoG build. The spring lift is for more than just fitting larger tires.
This isn't so much about being LCOG, it's more about finding a simple and viable way to fit a larger tire for clearance and aesthetics without sacrificing uptravel, while avoiding opening pandora's box of suspension lift geometry, steering interference, and drive shaft angles and all the associated expenses and headaches that go along with correcting each of those issues.

Yes, I'm sure a lifted TJ on 33's is more capable, but not everyone needs or wants to deal with such a build.

Absolutely. You have me thinking of doing this for my wife's TJ (yes, we have two, WTF is wrong with me?). She would like 35's but she's no gymnast and wants to be able to get into the dang thing (she struggles already with my 3.5" lift, 32" tire TJ lol). So she settled on getting 33's eventually but perhaps 35's could work for her this way. So thank you for posting this and showing what one can actually expect with those fenders!

You're welcome. Most of the fender demos I've seen were with much bigger tires or some kind of lift in combo with the fenders. Realistically 33's is the biggest you can run with these fenders and a small 1" BL and maintain the stock suspension flex. The clearance gains quickly diminish with larger tires that would be better served with a suspension lift or highline fenders.

You're describing both shock valving and the behavior of the rear track bar.

Relocating the shock's axle mounts can help some with increasing travel. The problem I see is that it is easy for the shock body to hit the frame at full flex.
I was barely able to move mine out before the ranchos hit the frame at articulation

slightly different situation, but with 4" lift and 1.25" body lift I measured my stock fenders first then my MetalCloak fenders and found about a 1.5-2" difference between wheel and fender/well at any point I used to contact with the stock fenders. At the top lip you showed, at the back wall of the fender by the tub, and at the outer lip (I do have the 4" not the 6").

I agree that the truth is in the middle, for me they have been great and where I would rub (and even bent) my stock fenders at full flex, I have room to spare with the MetalCloak.

stock then MC comparisons at ride height with wheel straight. I didn't take measurements at stuff but these show the space difference.

This is a subjective statement as I like the Overline flares. The Arched flares I'd agree with that statement.
Their armor is such poor quality though. The fitment is really bad. Doesn’t even compare with savvy or genright(not perfect either). Metalcloak armor quality is comparable to the no name eBay/Amazon crap.

Not sure which pieces you are referring to or how you're defining the quality.

I have the fenders with inner liners and rear quarter panel/corner armor. All of it came with good instructions, all the parts I needed, and bolted direct on with no modifications necessary. The corner armor was cut cleanly and fit well with no issues. The aluminum armor has withstood multiple hard hits and scrapes on rocks / trees with nothing but paint scrapes (which I just spray over with more black paint if I care lol ).

What are you referring to as really bad fitment?

To be clear, I'm not defending their advertising, or even all of their products, but my personal experience with the parts I bought and installed has been very positive.

I am not sure what is poor quality and so far my armor fits fine.

One of the key points is GOOD instructions. Don't have to search for someone else who wrote a install thread for how to install their products.

And like you I'm not defending them or their advertising.

If you recall I kinda flopped my jeep on both sides last year and all it did was scrape a bit of coating off my fenders, everything held up great.
