Thoughts on removing a stinger

I’m in the market for a new bumper because I’ve never liked the stinger the prior owner put on. I’m curious how hard would it be to remove it? My initial thoughts would be to use a cutting wheel to get close and then ??? And then a flap disc to get smooth and then repaint with bedliner to match the existing texture.

I’m curious if anyone has tried and what they’d use to to closer from the cutting wheel. I’m thinking some sort of steel wheel grinder?

Heck, you might even make a few bucks, someone here may want to weld it on to their bumper.

If you whack it, they sell a textured paint. Even Walmart has hit...in automotive. Test spray first...it blasts out of the can.

Yeah I have some already. I've used it on the rest of this amazon special with positive results.

I cut the one off my JK project. You'll have an issue with finding a coating that matches, if that matters to you.

Fortunately mine wasn't textured like yours appears to be.

The reason for cutting versus selling is that I won’t get jack for the bumper and then drop $300 or more on a new one when I have more upgrades a bit more of a priority. I like the motobilt crusher but dropping $400 just sucks when I can mod this one and make it work. It seems easy enough, I wanted to make sure I had the right tools.

I like your logic. I had the same dilemma with my rear bumper and a very poorly designed tire carrier. Rather than mess with getting a new bumper and spending a bunch of money I opted to remove the tire carrier portion and put on a reinforced tailgate carrier.

Sell it on Craigslist and buy a better quality bumper. My Jeep came with twin tube bumpers. I sold them both for $200 on Craigslist. I was shocked that anybody even wanted them. I bought some USA made LOD bumpers

I have that same bumper on the front and really like it.

I have their signature series rear bumper/tire carrier and have been really happy with it too, but man, that set up is heavy.
