Novak Conversions Jeep Wrangler TJ engine mounts

What did you do to your TJ today?

Drove it. Yes sir. My RinoCon.

Had an appointment to sign the largest residential remodel contract we have done, and the job/client is a great fit for us, and us for them.

Weather is beautiful, top is off, why not. If it were something involving attorneys and so forth, I'd drive the truck, but occasionally drive it for fun on late appointments where I'm already established with the client.

Before I left , I put the front jks sway bar links on my '03 correctly, because I neglected to read the instructions. I had the top mount under the bar, bar goes inside that bracket. Live and learn.

In church now, then headed to Wal Mart after to get some clearance shirts to Logo if we get out in time...if I don't get struck by lightning.

You guys should have been in service the time my wife's grandmother sneezed and her teeth fell out.

Milk squirted out my nipples.

The new head unit is here at last, so the installation headache has begun. First off, the opening in the Metra escutcheon was too small. Too narrow, and too short heightwise - is double DIN actually not quite the same as single widthwise? Or 2X heightwise? Then the plastic brackets that are supposed to hold everything were also too close together. Increased the depth of the mounting slots for the latter, and very careful use of a rasp and "Dremel" (Wen) tool has gotten it to the point of where both sleeves now fit in the opening. Now the sleeves themselves need a bit of modification, and so does the front plate of the CB DIN adapter. But progress is being made.
I also temporaried the CB radio in place, and found that I have a sky high SWR for reasons yet unknown. Getting some good reception though - and virtually zero RFI. The external CB speaker that I installed a couple of months ago in the center console subwoofer location sounds GREAT!

Got the '96 Suzuki thumper finished last week, ripped apart the '94 Quadrunner this week to restore. Pulled the paracord off the steering wheel and put an Amazon leather wrap on it (from the thread here)...not all that fond of it, but it may grow on me. My wheel was so bad underneath I had to wrap it w/ electrical tape and then friction tape to get the diameter.

I ran out of light to finish the stitching (old eyes, too much sun).

Oh, here's the other thing I did today:

00.jpg

Original (Left) and new (Right) drain plugs for my Teraflex differential cover...

New plug in place...

YES! I KNOW! This is temporary, it won't be taken into any rocks like this - but the original drain plug supplied by TeraFlex was apparently too straight a taper - the replacement looks more tapered and it tightens up whereas the original only bottomed out. I couldn't get it to stop leaking and it never felt right - the new one does so I can at least verify that this chickenshit problem is fixed.

More "Hecho En China" would be my guess...

Gotta say I love my stitched leather cover. Probably the best $18-ish I ever spent on a car.

I plan to pick mine up from the shop when I get home from Louisiana this afternoon! 9 days with no Jeep sucks! I had the steering upgraded and a new track bar, I am a newb so I wasn’t quite comfortable tackling this yet. Shop called this morning and said it drives like a new rig!

The older wheels, where they MT2? Looks great

I put mine out to sun dry after all of the water immersion. The radio doesn't turn on, but it wouldn't turn off after it got wet. I suspect a fuse issue.

The TJ was running a bit warmer than usual (just over 210, with out the A/C being on) so I installed hood louvers, while it did get rid of some of the heat in the engine bay it did nothing to decrease my engine temp. Today a Frostbite 3 Core radiator and heavy duty 10 blade fan were installed. Now it is running much cooler and even with the A/C on full blast it never got up to 210. When I purchased the Jeep several years ago it had this overheating problem but I never used the A/C anyway so it was no big deal. With the 35” tires and 4.88 gears it started running about 10 degrees warmer, so today that issue has been resolved.

What fan did you use, and did it bolt up to the stock fan clutch.??
Does it make any more noise than the stock fan.?
Thanks in advance..
