This is annoying, I've looked through every vacuum line, no openings, I've tried the tests with carb cleaner, cleaned the IAC just to be safe too. Multiple things are happening. 1. As I give it more gas while driving, it pulls air away from whatever vent it is toggled to and goes right to the defroster. 2. Now my jeep doesn't want to idle. I barely got it to start, and now it idles at 250 rpm, (yes 250 not 2500) and struggles to stay alive unless I give it gas. 3. I push in the clutch pedal to shift and the rpms drop immediatly so my shifts are clunky(if that makes sense) We also clogged my air intake to see if that would do anything and it didn't even effect it. I've had idle problems and I got new sparks(when I rebuilt the motor), cleaned IAC and TPS. Has to be a leak. Our mechanic buddy has a machine to detect and he will look at it this weekend. Before I go any last things to check? Ive been fighting this for a while so ill keep you guys posted on the outcome.

Sorry to hear about the issue. The smoke test your mechanic buddy has will find the leak in no time.

As far as carb cleaner goes make sure you don't have the non-flammable kind.

Found it!!! Underneath the battery tray, Funny too since I checked there from pulling the whole line out. No more issues :)

I’ve got a small leak as well that I’m chasing, and think I’ve found it. I had checked that as well, but wasn’t sure what the box was it connects to? When I pulled mine, I could hear sucking air so I know that line was good.

Hear are pics of what I did to get smoke into the intake system. The pellets came from Granger and I put a socket under the throttle lever to hold the TB valve open. Once lit and lid on tight, I just blew into the hose while my wife watched for a stream of smoke.

My problem was that the leak was occasional. Just what I needed to tell our buddy :( Turns out the small tube that connects to the hose was getting clogged with dirt, and it would cause the leak until it was clogged back up. So just a heads up when tracking down a leak, GET ON IT as soon as it happens because if you wait in my case it will clog up on you and go "invisible"

Double negative, so he WANTS the flammable kind?
