Just curious about what this blank panel is for in my jeep's dash. Its on the right side of the set of 4 swtches beneath the climate controls. I am wanting to use it to mount a lightbar(s) switch but don't want to if it is meant for another oem switch or device. I'm betting it's just an ash tray but asking just in case it's not

Looks like you have (2) switch blanks on the left, while that are to the right might be a usable space, you can get switches that look and function similar to the OEM switches.

The panel on the right in some cases has the passenger side air bag turn off switch.
I’ve got four little push button switches mounted there. There is a decent amount of room directly behind it.

Yeah I'm aware they're for the lockers that came on the Rubicon and was planning on putting in oem's when I get locking diffs. Didn't quite answer my question, but thanks for the input

Ok then that's probably what it is meant for. If it was something like an LCD display for the outside thermo i would've liked to use it as such. Thanks

That part was molded for an ash tray...that went out of vogue about 1990 , and was removed from the TJ model series in 2003...the manufacturer knowing that most people that owned these were most likely interested in some slow form of suicide.

It is most commonly used for accessory switches , on mine the switch powers my KC Lights.

You can do whatever you want with the space , provided you have 50 posts , and get 80 percent approval by us of the planned use of dash space .

Mine has an ash tray there. I used it as as a good place to mount an Xm receiver.

Mine is an ash tray too. You can get another switch bank though and mount it. There is a write up somewhere...

If you want toggle switches, Carling switches made by OTTRAW fit in the blanks with just a slight filing. ARB switches also fit.

The build sheet on my 2005 X says I have an ashtray, but it isn't there, and I have the same blank panel that you have. Interesting. Don't know why it was listed as being there, when it was discontinued for the 2003 TJs. Maybe I can find a good use for it.

Ashtrays in the 03 - 06 models were available. They fit in the cup holder.

I'm wanting to put an ashtray there, but for change don't like reaching under dash for anything. Is it just a hole if you take off the plate or the receiver for an ashtray does anyone know?
