Parting out an 2001 Sport: What should I hoard for myself?

Hi All,

I bought a 2001 Sport model 5-speed last month. IMO, a great Jeep, relatively low miles, but a ton of frame rust. I decided against the frame swap so I'm now committed to parting it out. I'm pretty excited to have it to tinker with and figure it would be an interesting project to work on over the winter. I'm going to use the profit towards at least put a new suspension on my 2000 Sport.

I'm thinking there are probably some parts I should be thinking to save for a rainy day so I figure best to check out your opinions.

Just curious what I should hoard.

Thanks..

Save the grill and headlights. Wire them up for a house outlet and make an awesome garage hanger. Sell the rest and get more stuff your the 2000 ;)

If you have a black interior would you be interested in selling the driver side visor assembly
I'll check its condition. I haven't paid any attention to it. I've seen some in the past where the base cracks. I'll get to the Jeeps storage location tomorrow and take a look and get back to you.

Hard top or soft top? I'm just north of ATL and looking for a hard top

And/or a soft top in good condition.

Hi. Sold the hard top last week but the prev owner also gave me what I believe to be a virtually new Bestop Supertop in spice color. The frame, canvas and windows look awesome. I pulled the Bestop part sheets to ensure the contents are all there but there is a few fasteners that appear missing that I need to get to ordering so I can sell the top. I’d keep the top for myself but I run a dark tan color on my Jeep and I just plan to restitch my busted stitches.

How much $? I could pick it up so no shipping necessary.

Hey... I'm going to grab the top from my office, bring it home and take some photos for you. I'll send those over then we can land on a price. I really haven't thought about it yet but I will be very reasonable. BTW.. The Jeep this is coming from had full doors so this top doesn't have the upper 1/2 doors with it.. I just thought of that and wanted you to know in case this changes your mind. Thanks

Sounds good. Send me the photos and we can talk. I don't need 1/2 doors as I have fulls. Thank you.

Keep everything except the tub. Murphy’s law: Sell Jeep part on Monday. On Tuesday, the part you sold yesterday fails on your rig. Repeat...

It happened to me a couple of times. I’m sure you’ll have better luck. Personally, I’d do a thorough inspection and keep any parts needed to fix potential problems found. You could also build a parts kit for use on the trail. Just my $.02

What color is interior and seats?

Interior is Dark Gray AGATE color and I don't know the official color of the seats but photo attached. The Drivers seat has some wear marks (start to some cracking) and some tape residue where he just put clear tape over it. I'd sell all 3 seats for $200 plus shipping if interested.

I promised first shot on the DASH to a guy here in Atlanta. I'm speaking to him Tuesday to see if he's going to commit.

I agreed to a price on the full middle console to another guy here on the forum. If you want me to let check back in with you if he Dash or Center Console deals fall through, send me a PM.

Thanks,

DT

If it still has the OEM side steps, I need JUST the U-Bolts, Nuts, & Plastic washers. You would THINK that would be easy to source separately, but I'm coming up empty-handed...

This is hardware used to mount the factory OEM side steps on my parts Jeep. I saw your earlier post but figured I didn’t have what you needed.

Thanks for the quick response! Actually, I have all of what you pictured; what *I* need are the four "U-Bolts", associated nuts, and the plastic washers that all THAT attaches TO; probably still attached to your frame side rails...
