Should I let my wife drive it?

Apropos:

Pictures of me letting you drive my jeep.jpg

I'm more than happy to let my girlfriend/brother/close friends drive when I'm with them or on the trail, but I'd be hesitant to just let them take it for a spin.

You know a little bit of what I was getting at was the fact that they are a lot different than a standard car.

I let my 14 year old son drive it about a mile and a half from our church home Sunday where I was letting him get driving lessons in a field... I'm pretty sure the hand of God put that Jeep back on the white line twice. He was in no way prepared for something that handled that quick.

My wife is a pretty good driver, but this is after 5 at fault accidents , 2 totaled Dodge Durango's, a crushed eyeball socket, and the child in the backseat during the last episode that finally slowed her down.

Yes I like my Jeep, and if something happened to it I could get another one pretty similar, and it would all be fine.

If something happened to my wife I might could get another wife that has a lift kit or some other aftermarket parts, but this one has been rock solid and faithful.

I know a guy who got a trophy wife ...but it wasn't First Place.

I do worry a little about anyone jumping in it and underestimating it's handling and getting hurt ...and at the same time , these TJ's are a quantum leap from the old CJ-5's in my opinion in terms of stability.

Fellow Alabamian here....Birmingham area.

So I specifically searched out a Jeep with a auto so my wife would feel comfortable driving it. She likes to ride in it and drive it but only around town. It drives great on the interstate but it has a 3 speed with 4.56 gears so it’s wound up pretty high on the Interstate and she doesn’t like driving it like that. It’s just a spare/fun car for us...we drive it around town nearly daily but don’t have too. She has driven it to work some....she does pretty good with it!

That’s some funny stuff right there. HaHaHa

I drove an automatic recently and I instantly thought my wife would love it.

Her first car was a stick shift so she'll be okay... she will probably end up trying to take the thing away from me.

I had a 4.0 with an automatic in a little Cherokee 4-door years ago and man it was a really good little engine transmission combination it seemed.

Probably the best overall 4 door sport utility for the money I've ever had.

Whenever my wife asks to drive I happy jump out and trade seats. She isn't that great on a manual yet so its always a bit of a bumpy start. But, by the end she is doing well. The way I see it is whatever I can do to make her enjoy jeep outings more and want to get out only helps me when its time to get parts or convince her down the road we need a lj for the extra kid/cooler space. Also, if she breaks a part she can't get mad when I need to upgrade it. :risas3:

In my home there is not my vehicle her vehicle. Sometimes I drive the truck and she drives the jeep other times I drive the Jeep she drives the truck. She tends to drive the truck more as it is brand new and has AC opposed to my TJ has a broken AC lol.

She aint afraid to use it either. some years ago we were on a ride with friends near the everglades (Muck not real mud) and while I was stading around talking to one of my Friend on how to get him across a bad spot another friend tell her go for it. He knew she would get stuck. Before could turn around and tell get not to listen to him she was already buried lol. Also many many many moons ago during high school (yup we met in 9th grade and been together since) I has a Suzuki Samurai and again I was talking with buddies when she the the other girlfriends took it for a spin in some deep mud holes lol. yup she has no fear.

I will try to find the pic of the everglades muck.
