Hey guys. So I got a 02 tj Sahara running stock exhaust. I’m lookin for muffler for under $40 ish whatever’s cheapest. Lookin at mainly glass packs maybe magnaflow or thrush or cherry bomb. Suggestions or comments?

What is your goal?

I assume when you say "glasspack" your talking about the old style straight through muffler, which I find to be obnoxious, especially on a small low power engine, and they often produce a lot of drone.

Magnaflows are nice, but likely out of your budget range. For your budget, DynoMax is a good option. https://www.dynomax.com/

If you want more rumble without drone, a turbo-style is a good option.

A bigger "Ultra Flo" will be somewhat of a gap filler between the turbo style and traditional glasspack. Bigger muffler body = more decibel absorption

There's also the chambered style if you like the sound of Flowmaster, and that's likely within your budget. Again, bigger muffler body = more sound reduction.

Ya I was looking mainly at magnaflow, thrush, or cherry bomb straight through muffler which aren’t too obnoxious and minimal drone. Didn’t know which one is best or sounds best.🤷

Just so you know I was asking because I have stock and want it to sound less sewing machine like and was wondering what sounds best without being too obnoxious. I listened to some sound recordings of glass packs on a tj that don’t sound too bad but don’t know what’s best

I don't know where you think you're gonna get it put together with a $40 budget.

20ish years ago I drove someone else's 4.0L TJ sporting a cherry bomb style glasspack for about 3 hours because they were exhausted from the drone after 20 hours. God awful experience.

You've got to find some middle ground. The chambered ones radiate into the cabin alot, but the chambered Flowmaster Delta 60 isn't too bad. it was louder than I wanted. IIrc the Super 44 is very loud without drone but the Super 40 drones with the TJ tub.

Straight-through in the magnaflow style 15855 or Ultraflow recommended above gives the best performance with an OK more aggressive sound.

But ultimately I'd go with the Super Turbo from Dynomax.
