With the limited flight options for my work trip to Vegas I ended up going a day early. Worked out great as I found a brand new manufacturing facility in the neighboring city of Henderson, called them up and arranged a tour. My background is manufacturing and I used to give plant tours all the time. I started asking for tours when I get a chance on vacation. Always enjoy seeing how stuff is made.
This plant makes shoes, with components from China. It's a direct response to the Trump tariffs. It's more automated with robotics and machine vision than the China factories, as labor costs are much higher here. But there's still manual processing, too. Met one of the leads who went to China for a month to train.
They gave me a pair of shoes, too. This is a Chinese brand that doesn't sell in the US yet.

Interesting. What is the cost increase on that? Is an American made shoe the same as china made + tariffs?
