Is it safe to run a battery tender through the DC power port?

Well I'm probably screwed too!

At least I'll get some good videos.

At the end of the day it's a vacation with friends that has a lot of wheeling in it, not some kind of proving ground or competition. So if I can't do stuff it's not a huge deal. And my understanding is out there you can more or less just drive around obstacles, unlike Moab where it's like oh you can either do pritchett or you can't

Check it out! I did a mini write-up on Reddit. I've been meaning to do a more in-depth how-to on this forum. Let me know if you have any questions.

How did you deal with the lack of front-to-back and side-to-side volume fading with the SSV? Do you use a dedicated DSP for that or just use the SSV as-is? We chose to go with the Memphis audio one after digging for a bit and discovering it has a fader function (accessed through a dedicated android or apple app) and this works much better per Blaine compared to the SSV unit to get nicely balanced sound. This unit also has AM/FM and you don't have to lose that functionality (channel presets set through the same app).

Also, what speakers are you running your SSV with? We have the Polk MM522 with good efficiency.

At the time that I had started planning for this project (early 2020's), the SSV was one of the only options available - certainly the primary contender. I was largely flying blind since no one had installed one of these in their Jeep yet (as far as I could tell). I spent some time on the phone with one of the SSV engineers. He was super helpful and got me to a place where I was comfortable this would work well in our Jeeps and fully understood the trade-offs.

Few things. I never use the AM/FM tuner in my cars. So I ripped all of that out the second I did the install. I bought a factory MOPAR "Trail Rated" badge and slapped it over the antenna hole in the tub. Looks factory. As for the fade and balance adjustments, I never adjusted those in my Jeep. Just the EQ, and my primary streaming service (Spotify) has a great EQ adjuster. Although I will say the factory sound tuning is great out of the box.

I'm still running the factory Rubicon speakers (with the tweeters), but I did a custom install of a Kicker sub in the factory center console. All things considered, I think it sounds great. Especially for a car with such bad acoustics to begin with LOL. On my short list of mods is to install new speakers, but for a weekend toy, what I have works great for now.

Seeing what the Memphis offers over the SSV, if I were to do this all over again, I would probably choose that unit for the reasons you and Blaine have. Seems to have more functionality in a similarly sized packaged.
