What's wrong with my brakes?

Got em all back together, if anyone reads this thread, crack the bleeders loose with a socket. They were way too tight on my autozone wheel cylinders. Brakes are way better now
If anyone else reads this, crack them loose with a 6 point something. I've dealt with far too many stripped hexes on bleeders due to folks using 12 point stuff to loosen them. The manufacturers cheaping out on the hex height isn't helping. I spend way too much time swapping out those to the good versions with a taller hex. I've probably thrown away 5-600 new bleed screws because of that.

Correct. Turns out this guy knows a thing or two

The bleeders that you use to replace the junk ones. Can you give us a spec or a brand on those? Also, do you stock different sizes or is there one standard that works with all the calipers you deal with. Thanks.

Edit; shit bleeders are one of my nemesis. Call me crazy but new calipers do not come with usable bleeders and the parts store doesn’t seem to stock replacements 🤷🏼‍♂️

All of my local auto parts stores show to have them in stock. Have you tried to look them up yourself on the parts stores web sites?

Anyone have experience with speedbleeders? Ive looked into those a couple times but never pulled the trigger

I put Russells on the rears of my Superduty to speed things up because it was so far from the MC and they worked great. The fronts I just gravity bled. The TJ is so short it's easy enough to gravity bleed all 4.

It makes it way easier. Access is greatly improved, and it's super easy to pull them with the right technique. No regrets

My only concern is, will pulling them risk a leak when re-assembled and if so is it easy enough to replace the seals? Should the seals be replaced anyway whenever the shafts are pulled?

Not easy or cheap on a Dana 44. The SET10 bearings and retainer would to also be replaced. Last time I checked, the bearings and retainers ran north of $100. Pulling the shafts isn't difficult and as long as you're careful you shouldn't worry about leaks.

The problem is parts stores neither know or care. I routinely throw away several dozen per month because I swap them out of calipers. If you don't know, (generic you) what to look for, it is hard to tell what you will get. The other problem is they come in 2 sizes, 10mm and 3/8". If you use a 3/8" 12 point on the one on the right, it is almost guaranteed to strip the hex. You can get it with a 6 point socket but only if you brace the ratchet to keep it from tipping over at all. Almost impossible to get it with a 10mm, 6 or 12 point. The one on the right is not the thinnest I've seen either.

I bag the 10mm and collect them for when I run out of 3/8", and also because of my pet peeves is having to change tool sizes to bleed from side to side.

I can not. I buy them bulk from a very high quality brake parts supplier.

2 sizes, 3/8-24 and 10mm. Same for the hex, 10mm and 3/8".

I have enough and I do not mind sharing.
