Novak Conversions Jeep Wrangler TJ engine mounts

The Saga Continues…

I know some (most) of you guys really enjoy modifying your TJ's, some the extreme like in this case but that was a beautiful LJ as it was before all the surgery. Wow

I'm no expert or engineer, but it looks super clean and if it has pretty much everything you .wanted and the guys giving you a price you're comfortable with and you hopped a plane to see it, why back out now? Whatever you do, I wish you the best with it. Looks like a beast.

I know it was a beautiful ljr before the build, but that probably makes the build that much nicer,

No one asked how much up travel those ori's are set up for.

No one asked about many things. My guess was about 3" of up travel.

Edit: It's likely closer to 2" to 2.5" of up travel

Tough crowd…

If you find yourself cruising through the whoops @NJW throw some more nitrogen in the upper chambers and let those 16”ers eat! You’re plenty wide enough to raise the ride height. Enjoy the new rig, I’m sure you’ll have fun with it!

The crowd hasn't been remotely tough

Exactly. Wait til will play the “all savvy or go home” card 🤣🤣🤣 then drag his commuter car into it and criticize his bicycle he had in 3rd grade.

Seriously, I don’t know enough to say squat, but I follow the idea of working to buy in the stretch game with a rig - but I know I cost myself a wad buying one that needed redone and dealt with a crooked shop. I “won” in court, but as usual, the attorneys actually won.

Will watch for how this goes and wish the OP the best on all of it.

It is unclear who here sincerely thinks this was a good build to acquire versus those who understood that the decision to buy it was a forgone conclusion with this thread simply being a vehicle to broadcast the ability to make extravagant purchases on a whim.

Tells us he’s flying east, provides us a list of big buzz wordy mods, and shares bunch of cool photos…then tells us to tell him what’s wrong with it.

In addition to sharing his excitement, he was looking for leverage in hopes to buy it for a lower price.

To do so would require a discussion of build philosophies that would be received with disinterest. I was there when the big red jeep was being outperformed by most around him. He knew it. Many there understood why. That was the clear moment to delve into a very valuable learning opportunity on how to reevaluate and rebuild the red jeep. That didn't happen and it will never happen because all that fundamentally changed was the color of the Jeep.

We’ve seen this before where a person claims foul in order to benefit themselves, but then doesn’t fix the problems (pockets the money).

It would also be a catch 22. To be able to pick and point at the issues with some amount of understanding are the very same things that would prevent this type of repeated impulse buying to begin with.

If spending money for something nice was discouraged, forums like this wouldn’t praise well built upgrades and rigs. However, we’ve seen enough sad tails to know paying doesn’t always mean you’re getting something nice.

I don’t think I would’ve discussed price with the chat.probably just show some photos and ask the group that knows more about,if it looks alright.

Here’s what I think happens a lot of times- because it did to me:

Somebody wants to get into the game of a stretched rig and they really do not know how to build one and they love the idea of getting one that they think is set up correctly and putting the finishing touches on it

The problem is if you don’t know how to build one you have no idea how to evaluate one

When you know what you’re looking for something like the fact that it has a truss in the back instantly tells you the uptravel is not there

Also, when somebody tells you they took 10 years to do something that means they either didn’t have the money or the knowledge to go down the critical path efficiently….something … or maybe they stopped and started over several times - who knows.

I see this in construction from time to time where someone had some ideas and they got into it and they really couldn’t finish because they didn’t even know where to start

It appears that whether it's a house or a Jeep , the application of the build clearly needs to be stated . After that the project scope becomes definable .
Presuppositions run wild , and will be used to judge the projects application .

An example would be : Are you using your pickup to drive offroad at 145 m.p.h in Mexico , or are you using it to haul 4500 lbs. of 10 ft. logs 30 miles out of the forest 3 times a week?

We all have bias , and judge others with it . A Trophy truck doesn't haul 4500 lbs. of logs , and logging pickup doesn't run 145 m.p.h on a highway , let alone offroad.

Just so we know. since you'd brought it up.....What's the story on the V-8 TJ? And which rig are you wheeling now? Is it the White Rubicon? Or? I've lost track with all the rigs you've owned....
