Good morning everyone,

I’ve been making additional upgrades to my Jeep and I bought some mopar style side steps as I love the way they look on the TJ’s.

But after getting them I noticed my jeeps frame doesn’t have the right slots for this to be mounted.

I didn’t realize that the older TJ had a different mounting system than the newer ones and I tried looking for mopar style side steps that have the old mounting style but it looks like no one makes them.

So I’m trying to figure out how to get these ones to work.

I figured I could at least mount the two screws up top but I have no idea what to do with the bottom hooks that are supposed to go into the frame.

Should I just drill the spots out on my frame??

Would love to hear anyone recommendations and thank you.

I would drill the frame and touch it up with paint to avoid rust.

Mine were self tapped into the frame.

I removed them and installed Rock Hard sliders that mount to the tub.

Wouldn't be that hard to round up a set of the correct steps and nutserts if you like.

I tried to find some that have the correct mounting hardware but it looks like no one makes the mopar style side steps with the mounting hardware. I was looking for the last couple of days and couldn't find any.

It isn't the correct mounting hardware alone. The early style steps have flat plates with matching holes to the frame hole pattern which will need nutserts in either 5/16-18 or 8mm x 1.25 and matching hardware. I have plenty of the nutserts and bolts for the SAE style and 99.9% certain I have at least one set of the steps, likely more.
