Can you do a slip yolk eliminator without dropping the skid plate? Just curious. Seems like the two bottom bolts would be the only possibly tricky part.

That seems like it would be very frustrating since you have to split the TCase. Support the bellhousing and remove the skid while you install the SYE.

I’ve seen where people have done it that way, but for me I felt it would be easier to have the transfer case on my work bench.

Barring your reference to some silly breakfast cook, the bolts in the yoke at the front double cardan are not as much fun as you'd like them to be with the skid in place. That and the yoke has to come off which I've never tried with the skid in place.

I've only done one on the bench and after chasing that thing around way more than I liked, I only do them in the rig now since it acts as that extra pair of hands I wished for several time on the bench.

Beg, borrow, or steal at least one pair of drive on ramps and get the rig up high enough to sit under it. Makes it an easy simple job when you aren't laying under it.

I am already setup to drop the skid. The front driveshaft is already out. Was just curious if anyone had done it that way.

Having done this before in tight spaces, I highly recommend you take your time and remove the transfer case out of the jeep and take your time with sealing the unit. The most frustrating thing is when you hurry to replace the case and drive down the road only to find oil leaking everywhere. Do it once and do it right. Take your time brother. Enjoy!

FIFY below-

Go ahead and pull the case out of the rig. The easy way to get to the top pair of studs and get the nuts off since they are so close to the tub to swing a wrench is to pull the console, shifter plate, and access them from the top. No worries there since that also makes it easier to get to the vent clamp, 4wd switch and shifter linkage.
