What is the worst trail carnage you have ever seen?

I watched a feller drop a wheel on dry pavement once...... :cool: :cool:

I may still have pictures, and I wasn't the only witness 🤫🤫

Lord please forgive me, but the same person snapped an axle on a different trail and day.

Again multiple witnesses and may have pictures.

Again Lord forgive me if I am rubbing salt in the wounds.

You almost got a rock stuck in your treads.

I watched a feller try to rip the rear axle out from under his JK on Pritchett once.

I believe after Jeff pulled it back to the AirBnB, I reinstalled that axle and had it ready to do Top of the World the next day :cool:

Carnage and worse are both subjective.

I do tell everyone I wheel with that after you accept the fact that it is scratched and/or dented and that the universe didn't implode on us when it happened, that the wheeling gets a lot more fun!

My friend's TJ ripped off rear trackbar mount upper C/A mounts, broke the rear driveshaft, and a front axle shaft on one trail (with 8 more miles of rocks to go). Another friend sheared his JK sector shaft in JV. Another guy in our group broke a jk rubi front axle tube in half on the trail. Also seen many ring and pinions (mostly dana 30 or toyota 8 in) go. I've personally lost an oil pan, pinion yokes, and front axle shafts. Most of these in JV or the sierras. All of them somehow able to get back to a trailer.

Edit forgot the honorable mention for my friends arb center pin that ejected and went practically went through the diff cover.

Love to share stories, see pics.

@mrblaine get on this man.

…don’t think I can do it justice as far as naming everybody that needs to chime in

This was your basic, simple, run of the mill JV rear axle shaft failure. It was complicated because of where it broke. The blue line is around the end of the shaft in the tube and we had to pull it out with the winch. The tire on the other side is off because there is problem on that side. We had to get another line on it to stabilize it because when we pulled on the shaft, it tried to pull it over off of the little jacks. They started taking it apart before they got it to a less precarious spot to work on it. This is precisely what happens when you ignore weight and lose focus.

First question is where on earth in there is good place to work on one ….and how on earth can ya get under one - gotta be comfy.

Is it hot there? Looks hot.

How often when you go there is someone in the rocks already crying for help?
